A few years back I was buying a set of Boston Acoustic CR-8's and the salesman gave me a set of those Radio Shack supertweeters that he used to use with the CR-8's. I played around with the supertweet .......

I somewhat disagree. My loudspeakers (Paradigm Studio 100 v.2) are just boring black boxes, but they sound good to me. The rest of my gear is just plain old black boxes, but it all sounds good to me. .......

I use Milk crates with granite under the speakers for my Phase Tech 7T's. It also raised the tweeters to ear level... .......

Well I have my Paradigm Studio 100 V.2 horizontally passive bi-amped, and I can tell you that it made quite a difference in the sound. The bass is much more defined, and so is everything else. The Mid .......

Distortion would have to do with not enough power from the amp. I would not get hung up with cables, as they do not always give the best bang for the buck. You might want to upgrade the cd player, but .......

I heard one Driving a set of the New Polk LSi15's the other day. I have to say that it had no Harump! Now the Polks are 4 ohm and I believe the Pioneer is rated 140 @ 8 ohms, so it should not have run .......

I could be the preamp. Decouple it and try it as an amp only. I have a CA-1010 and the preamp section started to act funny so I just use it as a power amp. .......

I have a Yamaha Intergrated (CA-1010) that will run in class A up to 20 watts @ 8 ohms. I sometimes flip the switch and run it in class A and it sounds good. I would think that since in the 1970s-1980 .......

I remember reading here(in AA), somewhere, that A 1 ohm resistor in series would change the dampning factor of the amp. I have tried it, but with better luck on the speaker end as opposed to the amp e .......

It has been my experience that you need at least 8” woofers for rap bass. Now most of rap bass is mixed poorly and bloated, but some of it is not. “Me Against the World” from 2Pac has some bloated tra .......

Voltage is not constant, as it changes. I noticed how much better my rig sounded when I got a voltage regulator and a 20 ampere circuit for my rig. AC power is about 110 to 120 on average. Repeat AC v .......

I would stick with the JD502 as 6550's always sounded better to me than EL34's. Marshall amps use EL34's for a reason, they sound dirty. Ask any jazz guitarist about 6550's vs. EL34, and they will tel .......

I use a TEAC EQ-A20 from time to time and I run it from the source into the preamp. It saves on cables and seems to work good. I like the Radio Shack gold IC's as they are cheap and they don't sound t .......

I have made 2 different cat5 IC's. The first I used the wires intact and the second I removed the sheath and braided the wires. I have never stripped the wires, but it could be done. The braided IC's .......

I enjoy multi-channel sound on DVD's on occasion, but most of my listening is done in stereo. I have heard DVD audio discs as well as SACD's and I am on the fence as to which sounds better, as it real .......

I know to keep an eye on the volume. I have fried more speakers than I care to admit. I keep the volume knob under 12 O' clock, so clipping has not been too much of a problem... .......

In my opinion the jury is still out when it comes to the skin effect. All the of the science related readings I have done point to the fact that this skin effect happens well past the audible spectrum .......

It is interesting that you should bring up the point of power needed and power on hand. It depends on how loud you want to play your music and how sensitive your speakers are when it comes to how much .......

The highs on my Studio 100's are wired with Monster Cable MCX-2s, the woofer on the 100's are wired with Monster Cable XP(until I upgade it). My surround speakers are wired with Monster XP and my rear .......

The bigest problem with a long run of speaker wire is signal loss. I am not sure of the Db loss for 12AWG in a 70 foot run, but I am sure it is too small to notice( even less than 1DB or so, I would g .......

I would use at least 12AWG for a run that long. I use Monster Cable XP for my rears in 30 foot runs and I noticed that when I upgraded from the free 18AWG zip cord that I got when I bought the speaker .......

As far as sound goes, they are slightly forward compared to other 2.5 ways with soft dome tweeters instead of the metal domes the 60's have. Not a bright sounding speaker, but detailed in the trebble .......
