I purchased the kit from HiFi Collective. You have the option to purchase pre-assembled or not. They offer different kits based on different switches and resistors. The Elma switch is more cumbersome/ .......

I have tried many NOS 12at7s. My preference is the sylvania JHS Triple Mica followed by RCA blackplate. The JHS are more detail, transparent and have great extension while the RCA have a warmer fuller .......

One more opinion. I have tried most 12au7 and 5814s. I always go back to RCA Black Plate red tips 5814 pulled from an organ. They have excellent clarity/resolution, frequency extension and good tone. .......

The 12ax7s are for the phono board. I highly recommend telefunken 12ax7 ribbed plates. The 5814 is the same as the 12au7 which goes in the first tube in the line stage (left to right), The 6201 is the .......

Well it seems to be the english control. When english dial is set to red dot between between position 93 and 94 for 15K range on dial I read about 3500 if I move the english to 91 it reads around 7500 .......

I forgot to mention mention the tester scroll did not list KT88 but found setting on internet which indicated the setting same as KT66 with the exception the bias set to 12 instead of 13, JR 5347-2-12 .......

Found circuit diagram and r24 in line sense circuit reads 231.5K instead of 215K. I am assuming this is causing the meter to not measure line voltage accurately. Will change and see how that works, :: .......

i am of the opinion that all tube dampers that I have tried do more damage than good. But what really works in all cases is plumbers teflon tape wrap tightly on the tube around where the space spacer .......

I couldn't agree more. All the tube dampers I tried suck! Try teflon plumbers tape wrapped around the tube over where the top spacer meets the glass off the tube. This definitely improves the sound in .......

Mike, My thinking is that the steel pin has more effect on the sound then the cover which I would think is non conductive or has a non conductive coating. What I am thinking is to leave the cover but .......

Michael, I have found if you cut off as much as possible of the steel pins while still allowing for soldering of lead wire the irrating or fatiquing sound is mosltly eliminated and then teflon better .......

Nope, I tried it both ways. The glare etched sound was removed when I cut off the steel leads. My preference is to use tie wraps pulled tightly on capacitors to control resonance. .......

Pteron, Thanks. According to PSUD my bias supplies will take about 5 secs to reach full voltage while the B+ comes up in less than a second. I assume the 6CH3 ramp up slope is sufficient to allow bias .......

Petron, Thanks for the information. I will take a look at the 6CL3. My motive is to slow the B+ ramp up to provide a soft start and allow the bias supply to come up. The 6D22 was advertised as 30 sec .......
