You might consider this Tekton. 8 ohms and mid-90s sensitivity. Free trial. No affiliation. BTW, the 400 was my first real quality stereo component. 1965. Wish I still had it. .......

I have a pair of Lores (the regular ones). They are probably a little more efficient/sensitive than the Reference. I use a Chinese SET integrated amp that allegedly puts out 8WPC via one EL34 per chan .......

In my experience, Tekton makes some great value speakers. I've had the Lore for about three years. Plays plenty loud from 8WPC, as in EIGHT. The other Lores, Reference and Mini, look like good values .......

I love my GrooveTracer delrin platter on my RP6. This gentleman does extremely fine work and he might be persuaded to make one for the Planar 8. You probably will have to have the sub-platter as well .......

I like my PR-101 from Akitika. I got the full blown version for about $900 which included an MM phono stage, headphone amp and gold plated jacks. If you're a DIY person, it can be had for a lot less. .......

You might be right. The GrooveTracer, not really a clamp, more of a weight, just lifts off, it's not screwed down so I don't stop the platter. There are several other things I wish REGA had not done, .......

OK, maybe we're talking about two different things. I see no reason why a volume control cannot be designed to have a usable range from 9 to 2 so that some kind of fine adjustment can be made no matte .......

Here's what I still think. Back in the day, manufacturers of amps/receivers would purposely design high gain to appear at the volume pot. This would give the potential buyer at the shop the impression .......

I have the complete sacreds with Suzuki. Good sound, competent and sometimes better soloists with good HIP instrumentals. But, I don't know most of your others. FYI, I was never a big fan of the Harno .......

Tho' they do beam to a small sweet spot but it's a great sweet spot to be in. I would never say the Sanders are better than the U-1's although I have heard both in the same room. Loved my InnerSounds .......

I'm not really a tweaker so VPI would never be on my list of TT's to pursue. VPI has the unpleasant, for me, possibility of the never ending upgradeitis disease. It obviously works for their custom .......

I had 3.6 with Atma-Sphere amps (about 110WPC). Not a good match. I even had to have an extra central air unit installed, I live in the South. Tried autoformers, no dice. Preamp was MP-3. Knowing what .......

Interesting. The Tekton Lore, depending on how you test it, is somewhere between 90db and 98db sensitivity. I am driving them with a GemTune GS-01 at 8WPC into 8 ohms, 1 EL-34B per channel. I can tell .......

I don't know what your budget is for floor standing speakers but my new Tekton Lore speakers are quite efficient. I drive them with eight watts per channel and they get very loud. $1000 a pair plus $1 .......
