I have a Plinius 9200 also. The best tip I ever got for it was from an article in either Stereophile or The Absolute Sound where the author said one of the other writers told him that his 8150 sounded .......

I'm enjoying my Qutest but I needed to add an Sbooster linear power supply to have it do it's best. Plus it takes 500+ hours to fully burn-in. It's definitely smooth but that's what I prefer for digit .......

On the E-H tubes that are in now the tubes are well above the screws. The screw cutouts only line up over the one screw on the Cary top plate near each of the two LC tubes. The RC tubes cutouts don't .......

I checked the right channel (RC) tube fuse and it was completely vaporized, no filament at all. So I took all the tubes out, except the new rectifier tubes I just bought (Sovtek) and replaced the Gold .......

Thanks for the heads up on leaving the power on. A DAC won't use very much power which iwould allow me to possibly leave it on. Our electricity is very expensive here. We hit 48 cents a kilowatt-hour .......

Prior to moving the speakers I'd like to try the polarity test, so I'll reverse the left speaker leads at the amp end first. But then, if there is no improvement, can I safely reverse the bi-wire conn .......

Hi Abe, Similar but different. The Plinius 9200 is a fine SS amp that doesn't sound so SS that a tube guy would dislike it. It is always at it's best when left "on" all the time, not in the "standby" .......

Re the GL KT-88, I also really like them in my SLI-80. They have 150 to 200 hours on them and soundstage depth has really improved. I bias them at 75 mA per Cary recommendation. .......

The Cary 302 uses 4 6SL7 tubes. 2 for head amp gain, 2 for Riaa EQ and amp stage gain. Cary suggested I try 6sn7s for the head amp tubes because they have lower gain ( mu=20 vs. 70 for 6SL7). ::: TOPI .......

The manual for the 302 refers to the tubes I changed as the "Head Amp" tubes. The other two 6SL7 tubes are referred to as the "RIAA EQ and Amp stage" tubes. Thanks again for the assist! .......

You are absolutely correct regarding output levels. My MC cartridge at the time, a Benz Glider, had an output of 0.7 mv. So on low, the Jarrah did sound fine. I've since moved up to an Art Audio Vinyl .......

I used a FT-4 for many years with my previous TT, a Sota Star. It had a very unique (at least to me) cutout pattern. I don't know if the arms used the same armboard cut-out. .......

Use caution. There's a possibility you could overload the phono section by using too much gain -- listening for distortion may not work well because the RIAA correction applied by the phono section ma .......
