The Xicon MPP are metalized polypropylene. I like them for restoration work on average pieces and if I want to upgrade from them, I can always go up to Miflex or the like. I have used the Audience cap .......

I can no longer find the Xicon MPP 0.02uF/630V (or any voltage) value coupling cap anywhere. I haven't seen them on Tube Depot for several years, at least. I just called them and the woman who answere .......

Hi trobbins, I was eventually able to cajole the original owner to respond a bit more fully and he confirmed that it was the Mullard 5-20 circuit. Duly noted is Steve O's comment that Acro TO300 @ 6.6 .......

Also, the label shows the name of the owner and that he had the tube tested as "good." A New Old Stock tube would not have such a label on it. He also shows no test measurements. Poor seller! ::: TOPI .......

I would keep the VTL 120's, too. I used to own them and still think back fondly of them. IIRC, the RCA 807s would not bias properly in the amps. You might need to adjust the value of the bias resistor .......

Look for an etched code at the base of the tube. If it is Amperex/Philips, it should have it. Then, you can look up the symbol that is at the left on the second line in the Philips tube manufacturer c .......

My SA-260 power transformer runs pretty hot, too. Mine had many of the e-lytics replaced (underneath) already when I bought it. I didn't check if all had been replaced. Perhaps it runs fairly hot norm .......

Years ago, I owned the Melos GK-1+1 tube preamp, which used the 6GK5 in the phono stage. I tried many brands and the best I found were Westinghouse - hard to find, though. I got some from George Bisch .......
