I personally like and use an EAR 834p clone, which has enough gain to use with a medium output MC cartridge. You are not likely to find a better one at this price. .......

Any errors that a typical vinyl pressing may have is almost always preferable to noise/distortion/linearity errors of digital playback which some (like me) are very sensitive to. By listening to a dig .......

I am thinking that the best solution is to cover the existing pads with a soft, acoustically transparent fabric, securing it by rubber band at its outer circumference. It should make them comfortable .......

The runner-up is the Audio Technica AT 120E. It tracks better than the MP-110, and is fairly well resolved, but it is a bit brighter than I would like. .......

After careful comparison, I have found a new recommended reference cartridge for $100. The Nagaoka MP-110, which technically sells for $110 US dollars, does the most right, and the least wrong of any .......

Oh, I forget to add that this whole series of cartridges (including the AT 92) requires a tonearm with VTA adjustment to prevent the possibility of them dragging on the record! .......
