I imagine that if you spend $110 on it, you will hear a difference. That doesn't mean there actually will be an audible difference, but that $110 will make sure you hear something. .......

I don't say that all wire sounds the same. There are certainly products out there with excessive amounts of R, L, or C that are outside the normal range, and these products can produce an audible eff .......

The Orions are top notch, but the Geddes speakers are better. :-) They're also less complex and less expensive, and likely to be far more durable. .......

You might want to see if you can find a dealer that carries Infinity and listen to some of their speakers. They sound much better than Polk IMO. .......

You could also look at it another way. Inexpensive components are more likely to use cookbook approaches from the makers of the ICs and other semiconductors. They are also more likely to use inexpensi .......

Recording studios use lots of switches that are not audiophile-approved. So if one switch in an ABX box is too much for you to handle, a whole bunch of switches in the studio that you can't even avoid .......

I don't see why not. Wires of unusual construction can cause FR irregularities or cause instability in some equipment. Some amplifiers have such a high output impedance that they sound different on di .......

I read the abstract of the material from Andrews today. I found the tests to be inconclusive at best. Yes, they measured some stuff. No, there wasn't anything really scientific going on. .......

Have you ever read any of the material Earl Geddes has published? One of the chapters of his book on home theater has some good info on bass in the home listening room, and he arrives at some differen .......

Yes, although Shure now calls them the SLC2. (Their SE home series is tweaked to "sound good" rather than being accurate.) .......

There are certainly differences in the typical listening room in various places in the world. Places like Tokyo are probably at one extreme and some suburban or rural locations in a number of countrie .......

I never got to hear the Xd speakers. I tried to get a listen to them, but NHT gave me the runaround and I gave up. A couple of people whose hearing I respect said that they did some things very well. .......

I heard some ESLs from Final Sound a couple of years ago that weren't bad. (I'm not really a fan of planar speakers though.) They did need to be used with a subwoofer, but I feel that's a good idea an .......

There are some speakers that are simply grossly over-priced. There are others that are not a good value because, although they cost a lot to manufacture, the final level of performance does not warran .......

I have heard the 5As. I didn't really like them. The mids seemed to be modulated by the bass and the speakers sounded strained with dynamic music. They're better than the smaller Vandersteen speakers .......

Linkwitz discusses some earphones on his web site that he uses as a reference when designing speakers. I bought a pair based on his recommendation and they certainly do give you a reality check on som .......

I've heard Carver's Sonic Holography, the SDA speakers from Polk, and also the MARS system that Fried was using at one point. None of them really work very well IMO. There's a flaw in the whole concep .......

I have heard speakers that seem to do vocals well, but then don't do much else right. Then there are speakers that do everything well, and vocals are great too. The Gedlee speakers do a wonderful job .......
