I hadn't considered using barley, but I like the idea. Barley added to soups gives the broth a very nice silky texture. The starch from the barley thickens and gives a touch of body. Thx for mention .......

Don't forget to try swapping the cathode follower if swapping gain tubes left to right doesn't cause the problem to move with it. If swapping all 3 12ax7's around doesn't affect the failure condition, .......

Temps vary by a similar range here and heat pumps do okay. I suspect the reason they're not as effective where you are is humidity. Twenty-five degrees and high humidity is worst case for heat pump. M .......
