Satie, If you could find 5/8" it may work. I'd stick with the 3/4", easy to find at Lowe's in 3' or 4' lengths. The top portions of the braces are chair legs from a big box hardware store, 15" long. .......

Inductive is just fine here. I'd stick to a quality (non-cement style) wirewound. Huntington is Mills, sold at Digi-Key I linked to a 10 watt, but 5 is just fine since dissipation is 2.3 watts or so a .......

I'm using an 80WPC tube amp for midrange/tweeter panels on Tympani IVs. Bass panels on SS 250+ WPC. MR/T power is marginal. Except for transient peaks at loud levels, it's fine. I suspect 150WPC or so .......

Replace it with a quad of LDRs with a simple 5V power supply (If you want to go nuts, do a shunt regulated (TL431/MJE350) and current sourced (LM317) 5V supply). You'll never want to listen to any pot .......

Once a load is connected, it doesn't do anything. Before that, it keeps DC potential at the output at ground (drains off a building charge from the cap). As far as quality goes, it's probably not crit .......

LDR attenuators sound better than TVC types in my experience, and that of our DIY club. They are also much cheaper. You may disagree, but it's not expensive to try them out and hear for yourself. The .......

Another possibility is the size of the grid stoppers. If they are substantial (say, 10k or more) depending on stage gain/Miller capacitance, that could explain a bit. Also look at the output impedance .......

My experience is limited to the HM-3 moving coil transformer, so I'm not sure the observations hold, but the Hashimoto transformers are superb in this application. Better than any others we've heard e .......

You may be on to something. I just removed the current sources from the cathodes of the drivers. They were set at 6mA. I now am operating the tube with just a 22k resistor in each cathode for about 10 .......

Try it for yourself. Pick a component you have and are familiar with the sound of. Change the silicon 1N4007's or similar for a General Semiconductor GI856 (check specs to insure voltage compatibility .......

Inductance. Usual proceedure is to use parallel caps of at least an order of magnitude difference, thus gaining lowfrequency response without hindering highs. But, listen, you may not like the results .......

I have, in Citation II's. I boost the B+ with an additional transformer, so that it is about 520 volts. I prefer the sound in triode mode, so I connect the screen to the plate with 100 ohm resistors. .......

Photoflash!! Great caps in 330 or 360 VDC ratings. Extremely compact. Use in series for greater voltage. Build a cap board as Citation suggested. Bypass with polypropylenes or oil filled motor start/H .......

Another option, if you have or can create adequate B+ is to wire the 6922's as a mu follower stage, where 1/2 the 6922 is acting as a cathode follower and plate load for the amplifying half of the 692 .......

I like power amplifier transformers to use in preamps. Pick one from a junk receiver, Fisher or whatever you can find. Plenty of ampacity and probably all of the low voltage windings you need. Good hu .......
