Yes, completely different laser mechanisms. DVD is a 650 NM red laser, Blu Ray is a 450 NM blue laser, CD is a 780 NM infrared laser. That's from the Google by the way, I'm just a listener. So each on .......

I have an NAD C350 integrated that I believe has an Alps pot, and yes, it does have a slight motor noise when adjusting the volume via the remote. Never bothered me. .......

Linn was a favorite of my retired dealer, an all analog guy. He carried Rega and Linn digital. I loved the Ikemi, but never quite had the $$$ for it. It didn't sound all that much better than my Rega .......

I looked around alot last week, and the ONLY BR players I could find with analog outs were the Panasonic DP-UB820 and the Sony UBP-X1100ES. Panny has HDMI, optical and analog outs. Sony has HDMI, coax .......

I know it's not supposed to, but it works for me. The sound so much better than my 55 watt PP 6550 amp, or my 60 watt SS integrated. Very musical, I can hear detail that isn't there with the other amp .......

I'm not familiar with that 12AU7. What is the issue with it, sound, reliability? In their dedicated preamps they use the 12ATZ and 12SN7's (or 6SN7's), but can substitute the 12AU7's in for a lower g .......

I miss my old Rega Planet. It was listenable. Laser died and there was no replacement available. The loading mechanism was a little clunky, but the sound was pretty good on RB cd's for a $600 player. .......

OK, I get that analogy. My car has a D "drive mode" and an S "sport mode" In D it goes very fast, in S it goes very, very fast. S is also much more responsive to acceleration up and down. I'd bet ther .......

What I'm really trying to do is determine whether I like my speakers enough to keep them, or move to more efficient ones that would use less power. My 55 watt amp gives me all the volume I need, but A .......

So, perhaps another stupid question. Why is it B.S.? I measure with my lil' old RatShack meter the SPL from a few feet in front of the speaker, say 3. That meter NEVER bumps over 90, it's analogue, so .......

I'm looking at amp and speaker alternatives. My current speakers are spec'd at 87 Db sensitivity, 5 ohm nominal impedance. I've been driving them with a 6550 amp rated at 55 watts and it's plenty loud .......

Probably not your most important criteria with that car, but how many miles on them? Only got a little over 20k on my OEM Conti's and they're near dead so I'm looking at the 4s's as well. .......

Used my corded Sawzall to take out a 6 foot tall section of a dead 12" diameter cherry. Wasn't the easiest, but with the Freud 12" pruning blades it wasn't too bad. I had thought of buying a chain saw .......
