Are any of these differences being heard with a player that takes the wav off the storage drive and loads the wav first onto a system main SSD drive and then loads that wav again into RAM? If you stil .......

My music computer is only hooked up to the internet on rare occasions. I have off line back ups with of my music if ever I do run afoul, but, I've been running without anti-virus even on this main hom .......

I just deleted my rambling post and will say, although I haven't tried the Musiland, I bet it works pretty well. There are some fairly cheap NOS DACs out there too. .......

When you say dac... If you have a dac that can accept 24/192 and you pass 24/192 to it... then your good to go... but the 'hard' part is getting the 24/192 out of you're computer intact and not re/dow .......

I haven't. But sometimes less (processing) is more in computeraudioland... perhaps not having dancing real time graphs is not as good as no graphs at all? ... or no player interface at all (am I wrong .......

I have a Stello 100 usb dac. I used the usb input for a long time. Found differences in SQ depending on the usb 'interconnect' I used and found SQ differences depending on which usb port I chose. Also .......

You can buy dvd-audio discs and try to rip em using DVDAExplorer... I've picked up used copies at Amazon and had some success. Here's a used copy of Roy Orbison - Black & White Night (DVD & DVD Audio) .......

I don't see that Win 7 is any different than Vista yet ... seems to just have UAC set at a lower level (laughing at peps who couldn't figure out how to shut that off in vista) and services shut off al .......

I just put win 7 on my daughter's laptop to give it a try... I'm gearing up to try it for the audio system... heard it works well with xxhe, but I'm taking it slow. Anyways, it was a very easy install .......

Yes I remember there were some good features (been awhile so research if you want) that worked with the plextor PX 760A, but not my newer (inferior i think :/) drives. I feel like I've been searching .......

This is pretty interesting. On a dvd-a that I have I can extract the mlp files, but can't change them into wav files... this plugin says it can play the actual .mlp. That could be cool. .......

Single wav plus a cue file. That said, Flac should be fine depending on your player... I use XXHighEnd. It takes any flac I have off my external hdd and temp copies it to WAV on my system/C:/XXHE driv .......

I think ripping to a single wav/cue sheet is the safest bet yet. At the very least it preserves the gaps the way they are on the cd. The cd is spun up first and reads the whole cd,,, without stopping .......

I have the Stello usbdac... it upsamples to 24/192. I've never liked the upsampling... just throwing that out, but I think there are others who feel the same way about upsampling. My next dac is going .......

dang, the ONE thing I use developed by apple... and they don't actively support it ... Firewire 400 & 800. It's how I move files off the external daisy linked HHDs, and how I get the bits off the comp .......

But it was demonstrated that at least XXHighEnd works with 64-bit Vista, so I went with it; the computer is used for nothing else but XXHighEnd, and soon CPlay for a listen to it. XXHE is a 32 bit pro .......

Sounds more like a the card problem then a PC problem. Don't buy that card... no problem. I have a Fireface 800. As long as I have the sample rate set to 128, it plays 16/44.1 - 24/96 with volume cont .......

CPlay would be another way I would consider going if I hadn't fell in love with XXHighEnd and all it has to offer. Since both Cplay and XXHighEnd play the file after it has been readied in ram... Flac .......
