The most sensitive components inside are the pair of Analog Devices AD843SQ OpAmps per channel. Carefully swap them channel for channel to see if the problem then changes channel. If so, you know this .......

That may well be your experience. Mine was as described, where very small changes in azimuth moved the center image 12 to 18 inches laterally. You do sound snotty if you intend to imply my experience .......

The spec'd +- 15v tranny is torroidal vs EI, so field effect are minimal. There are a few good OPAMP choices if you google the topic. Many people feel certain opamps sound much better at 15v vs 9v, so .......

Just open it up. Electrolytic caps have voltage, uf rating , and polarity clearly printed on their vinyl covering. Just make a list and order them. Once they arrive, replace them as you take them out .......

There are 21 electrolytic caps. They are the only kind that need replacing, and it is due to age. They dry out over time, especially the small ones. It is neither expensive or invasive to replace them .......

The problem is the fact that the table is designed to return the tonearm and shut down the platter if there is no album on the platter. You grabbed the tonearm while the transport roller was engaged, .......

One thing about Benz cartridges, or probably any cart that features a Fritz Gyger stylus, is their HIGH sensitivity to set-up. It is easy to make them sound mediocre. Arm height off by more than 1 mm, .......

Have you tried the Technics alignment tool, which set the cart for a shorter overhang, and almost no inner groove alignment error? Like you, I own alot of used vinyl, and some of the inner grooves are .......

This is the predominant reason I am a fan of Gruv Glide. It definitely reduces static, and I have NEVER seen a build-up on the stylus, unlike some might speculate. .......

I agree it is the tonearm servo motor spinning away. Pick up a 1/16thick by 1 3/8"ID O-ring to use as a replacement servo belt. You can access it by removing the platter and black plastic dust hous .......

Use a Q-tip to drip some Iso Alcohol done the interface between the rotating collar and the arm support. Get eough down in there and let it sit for a few minutes and it should loosen up. Then work it. .......

The one thing I didn;t like about my Virt Wood was the Elliptical stylus. I simply would not track (mosty sibilance issues on inner grooves) like the FG styli of the Benz line of carts I wound up swit .......

In a stock table the lower 6 or 7 mm of the platter is countersunk into the plinth. Yours is not, thus I fear the cueing light will be too low to do an effective job of lighting the top of the album .......

I have received over the past 3 years were from KABUSA. Others were hit and miss. Even if the size was right, they wouldn't lay flat...as in being glued-up 'pre-wrinkled', making them a whore to slide .......

If your AR PH3 has 54 db of gain, the stock config, you should be just fine. Might not be at the same output level as your CD player, but plenty of gain to do the job well. .......

In this case, an open circuit would be bad.. like a broken wire. An open circuit does not have a continuous path... no 'continuity'. If tested with a meter set to 'ohms' it would not register any read .......

You should be fine. The tubes are rated for a nominal 88 ma at 250v, so thats about the same watts as you are proposing. Maybe thats why they run so cool for me... like you, I am running nearly twice .......

That baby is 35 years old. Have you replaced the caps of the driver boards? I replace those caps with Nichicon Gold Muse caps in my AU-717's and for just a few bucks it really help with punch and b .......

Seems like whomever did the mod cheaped out. Auricap makes the 1 uf in 450v and 600v also, and using a higher V rating usually helps the sound if anything. Maybe they were too big in physical dimensi .......

What is the channel balance spec on your cartridge. Alot of them (at least the cheaper ones) are only spec'd to within 2 db or 1.5 db balance. Even most really good cart only spec balance to be less .......

The general consensus on 12BZ7s is the early 1960's GE. I just tried a NOS matched pair of Raytheon's circa 1960. Cost me over $75 to win the pair off ebay. Man, they really punch the vocals out front .......

No short-cuts i'm afraid. - Clean and sand out original finsh -3 coats primer, sand with 400 grit between coats, then 3 days dry time during summer. -3 color coats, 3 days to dry, wet sand with 600 3 .......

Care must be taken when mounting the phono leads to the plinth under the plastic strain relief piece that's secured with 2 screws. If its too short it wont let the sub-chassis bounce all the way back .......

The 45 degree edge should be essentially flush to 1 mm above the plinth surface. Make your adjustments with the mat on. Press down in what would be the geometric center of the table...i.e. about 2 inc .......

I wouldn't worry about going back into the tonearm. The Cardas wire is plenty detailed, dynamic and full sounding. Experiment with silver in easier places. Using silver everywhere can be too much of a .......

BTW, 4 inches of tonearm sized heatshrink once measured at .58 gram when I weighed it. You know, I run a yamaha headshell thats nearly 9 grams, plus heatshrink, and I use the optional screw-in counter .......

Your welcome! I use my Monokote gun frequently. 50% for heat-shrink tubing on wiring jobs, 50% to flash set a freshly painted surface so errant lint or insects wont stick the finish during those first .......

Go to the hobby store and buy a 12 inch length of brass thinwall tubing in the diameter of your desire. Use wet/dry sandpaper to sharpen the edge on one end as required, and use it sorta like a cookie .......

I use the 600 ohm config. on my cinemag using a Medium Output (0.8 mv) Benz cart into a Hagerman Cornet2. It doesnt overload it, but it still pushes it harder than is needed. IIRC, the 600 ohm config .......
