I suppose you are talking about the Cardas GRFA connectors. The advantage is the rca body, which is the ground, is soldered to instead of cinching a separate tab to the body. A better connection? mayb .......

The attenuator parts list shows the series resistor as having a value of "R". This R equals the value you chose when ordering. for example R=10K if that's what you ordered. Then there are a few other .......

If the Klipsch are indeed 4 ohm that would be the first thing to change in the amps. I don't suppose you received a manual with your purchase? It will tell you how to wire the amps for a 4 ohm output. .......

Thanks for your feedback. 2-3mV is a lot of hum!!! Are you sure of your readings? Many flukes have a "relative" key which in essence allows you to zero the meter so that noise picked up from your test .......

If you have a thump at turn on, this most likely is caused by a dc voltage offset at the output of the preamp so muting the volume would not necessarily prevent the thump. You would need a relay delay .......

The 300Bs are quieter, but not by much. The DRD2A3s are the noisiest....1-1.2mV. The DRD45s would be fine with your speakers. The TJ45s are pretty good and you can find some good NOS if you are persis .......

Well it sounds like there may be a loose connection inside the transformer windings or maybe the magnet wire is nicked internally and when you apply stress with the endbell screws it causes the failur .......

Many times a system switch that turns everything on and off at the same time will prevent thumbs and pops. You might experience some hum and rushing noise as tube gear powers up but nothing dangerous .......

A solder pot is the best way to remove the enamel coating. If you don't have a solder pot you can lay the wire on a flat surface and scrape most of it off using a razor blade. Ron .......

SS rectification may shorten tube life however in my opinion it is not a substantial loss. The power transformer will run quite a bit cooler if the rectifier tube filament current is not being pulled .......

Are you sure it's the power transformer buzzing and not the plate choke? These plate chokes have been known to buzz but usually quiet down after several hours of use. Is it both amps or just one? Is i .......

Have you checked your interconnects and speaker cables just to make sure it's not something outside of the amp? You could run a signal through the amp (with a load attached to the speaker terminals) a .......

Have you measured the voltages per the checkout procedure in the assembly manual? Do you have the standard or teflon tube sockets? The socket pins may need cleaning, or in the case of the teflon socke .......

First, why would you want to use a MKIII on a Lowther driver? Not a good match in my opinion. I don't have a pair of MKIIIs to test so I couldn't tell you, but just off the top of my head I'd say they .......

I don't recall saying that an inductor simulates an ac supply...:) My personal opinion is that the choke filament supply just provides better filtering. This is proven by the lower noise floor "measur .......

Actually, you'll probably want to keep that resistor and move it either in front of or downstream of the choke. The chokes don't have much dc resistance so you'll most likely still need to drop the vo .......

No, I wouldn't say the silver makes the amps sound brighter. It's a very subtle tonal change. There's not really enough wire in the signal path, inside of the DRD, too make a huge difference. For bypa .......

Input impedance of the DRD amplifier challenged by a 2uf capacitor? I don't think so. The input impedance is 100K which is pretty benign. I've driven the DRDs with our Reveille linestage using a 3uf c .......
