Short of analyzing the in-room response with hardware, (not that big of a deal these days), you'll tune the subs by ear. Get something with real content down there, (Organ, sweep test tones), and try .......

As Supernaught suggests, it's probably a short in the speaker wiring. This often happens from a single wire strand getting astray at the amp or speaker terminals. "Let me help..." .......

I didn't make any subjective judgement as to sound quality, I was merely talking market positioning. Many consider the "High End" an EXTREMELY rarefied segment with small production and stratospheric .......

I thought the Placette passive only needed power to switch the relays for input and resistance. Seems what power the unit receives should have no effect on the sound, other that perhaps AC LINE noise .......

I have one of the first P300s shipped. As mentioned, as long as it's not overtaxed, it's magic with just about everything I've plugged into it. It can even drive chip amps splendidly, but not any amp .......

I work with at risk youth on a volunteer basis, and I struggled with whether it was fair to label them drug-dealers, but I have a hard time coming up with another scenario as to why these kids had 5K .......

The three pin connections are XLR on that Tannoy. Often used in professional applications. That looks like a nice little sub, but it only has the low-level, line in via XLR or RCA and output as XLR. I .......

I'm quite surprised there is no pre-out on the BEE. Banana plugs are generally designed so they can piggy-back on eachother, but bare wire works too. No special wires required. A good sub has speaker .......

The tape loop provides a constant output level, not controlled by the volume, hence NG. With a small speaker like the Mercury, you may want to send the full signal to the sub, which can then send a hi .......

I betcha' the sound you seek can be achieved with your current integrated by fine-tuning placement, (likely a bit more near-field), and perhaps adding some room treatment in the form of abfusion or di .......

It may not be a TT grounding issue but an RF proximity hum to the cart, perhaps from the new gear. Try moving each component a bit when the hum is apparent and see if it changes... "Let me help..." : .......

I find balanced power, esp. pure regenerated high-frequency balanced power makes almost any amp sound better. But you need enough of it, which is generally not cheap for the real deal, (Elgar, PS Audi .......

You did ask what is the "best" way. I've gone through all kinds of solutions. I find the best way is to use a Vibraplane table... Not very portable, but boy does it work. As you mention, subtle vibr .......

Sounds like you fixed it well if the channels seem balanced. The "less bright" sound is quite likely break-in related. It may not get brighter, but the overall balance should shift as it breaks in. Go .......

It depends on how they're implemented. Some attenuate the digital output reducing bit depth, effectively reducing dynamics. Others control the current or voltage of the analog output from the DAC chip .......

Should be good to go. If the speakers really don't dip below 7 Ohms much they should be a pretty easy load at 8 Ohms and up to 91dB in room. I have a pair of Dunlavy SC-IV which are 91dB but 4 Ohm and .......

That's why I prefer spades over bananas. Also a better gas-tight fit. FWIW, the Nordost bi-wires I use have a single set of spades at the amp and biwire spades at the speakers. But you can double two .......

I would recommend Caddock resistors and perhaps Ven-Haus OIMP V-Caps. I used them in a Wright AG phonostage upgrade with great results. Many prefer the Caddocks to the pricer Vishay bulk foil resistor .......

Chip amps have heat management and protection circuits built into the amp chip itself. As long as they have reasonable heat-sinking, you're fine. With a small or inefficient heat-sink they can get hot .......

You may have scorched a woofer voice coil, at low volumes it's OK, but when the woofer moves it rubs and shorts, kicking in the protection circuit on the amp. Or not. Try pushing evenly on the woofer .......

Often folks get the best results from the line level, and utilizing the high pass, this assuming the subwoofer has a good crossover. But you can just split off the low-level signal from the cd player .......

I'd try both hoizontally and vertically biamping. You'll likely achieve additional detail and clarity of imaging. Often allowing one amp to handle all the bass allows the other to provide more detail .......

Sand works well because it's a lot of mass and it ISN'T glued together. Apparently the sand grains rubbing against each-other due to music vibration causes friction and converts the energy to heat. T .......

You can probably try the no-preamp sound by utilizing the gain adjustment on the Mackies as a volume control and running the cd direct in. Start with the gain all the way down and a very quiet cd the .......

Any other sources than the Tjoeb? I'd try passive attenuators like the EVS, but you want them at the speaker itself, The Mackie input bay could prove to be tight. But you may find the sound a bit dry .......

Is this the Exactpower unit that doesn't actually regenerate power but basically fixes the voltage and waveform on-the-fly? FWIW and IMNSHO, if you're making the investment, I'd pursue balanced regene .......

I find both my PS Audio P300 and my Elgar power regenerators cause certain transformers to hum, some much more than others. Especially at higher frequencies or with certain Multiwave settings. The hum .......
