Though I've never heard the SLP-98, at one time, I owned the DS-2 and an SLP-05. I still own the DS-2. If you are interested, look up Supratek, excellent build quality, very satisfied owners too. ::: .......

When we had our new place built, I had them run dedicated lines. 20 amp for amplifiers/analog, and a 15 amp for digital. Upon hook-up, I had hum. I went to the panel and looked, both the 15A and 20A .......

I've auditioned and returned items from Schiit (Yggdrasil), and TMR (CJ MF2500A). Both returns were as good/smooth as advertised. Returned within the guidelines/"grace period", no issues with either. .......

If your original M24 tubes were the std. Philips, I will say outright, you haven't "heard" the true M24 (imho). The "ultimate" tube, in mine, is the moderately rare and moderately $$ '75 Reflektor 6N .......

I am very familiar with the M24. I have also owned several, "newer/pricier", dac's as well. Yggdrasil, Holo Kitsune L3, Audio GD M7, AMR DP-777SE, plus a few others. The the M24, with the right tubes .......

It definitely wasn't bad capacitors in my case. All caps are intact, save for possibly one small surface "wafer" type. Several small resistors simply vaporized as well. This is why I was disappointe .......

I can't answer your questions about specific questions, but can explain some of the reasons for it's decline. It was a known fact, CARB ignored it however, the the addition of MTBE would decrease gas .......

Actually was cleaned when I received it. Was disappointed to hear something rolling around inside. I opened it up, no indication it had ever been opened before, found one of the board mounting screws .......

9500's are easy, I just received a set from Madisound last month. The P13's in the Okara's, and Ariel/ME2'S have no current satisfactory substitute.....the P13's sometimes (rarely) pop up on "that au .......

In my system (Rogue M88), the GL re-issues didn't do it for me, Penta KT88SC from Doug's on the other hand - aahhhhhh :) (with AX12LP's, and RCA clear-top 12AU'S) And,(FWIW), don't EVER listen to REA .......
