The ZYX Omega-S, ZYX Bloom, Accuphase AC-3, and Accuphase AC-2 track this cut flawlessly' no skip nor sibilant slurring ;-) It's one of my cartridge acid-tests. Cheers, Ray .......

I tried a PV10 a long time ago and it was nowhere near as good as the Melos or even the Audible Illusions of that era. Now I find myself in love with my CT-5. It's probably one of the best line stages .......

I was not a big fan of the Glider. To me, it did not represent the Benz "House Sound". That said, the Ruby 3H is very much a Benz cartridge. The sound is a tad warm, lots of detail, excellent bass, bu .......

After lots of experimentation I can definitely say it. This stuff is more durable, easier to tie into an tight inaudible knot, and is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. Also, if you are using the stock VPI low torque .......

is easily attainable once you have found the trick. As you have pointed out, the pulleys do add noise and they will increase the noise floor substantially. This is the very reason why the TNT doesn't .......

The original Charisma vinyl would probably be a tough find. FWIW, "Please Don't Touch", and "Spectral Mornings" have very mediocre sound, so chances are the CD re-masters may actually be improvements .......

I would agree with you regarding the "Yes" Lp "Close to the Edge". I have the first edition UK press and the Mobile Fidelity is very similarly balanced, but with greater weight on the bottom and clean .......

Yup. My $5.99 scale replaced the vintage Technics R&B Series Strain Gauge scale which I happily sold for $150 :-) The $5.99 scale is accurate to .01gms. The $150 strain gauge is accurate to .1gms. .. .......

"Lamb's..." sound is quite variable throughout the LP's. I have the original UK version and it is a bit harsh in parts, but it is head and shoulders better than the US release. It is especially better .......

The TRX2 and TRX3 really smoothed out on the A501M wand on the EPA-500. I find it curious since this is MC-like behavior. Likely another hint of the cartridge's true origins... I have noit played with .......

luckily there are dealers out there that give the opportunity to do this with no penalty. In my case, I did it with my CD Player and with the phono stage. These days, it seems to be the only safe way .......

I forgot to give you the loading settings! I have mine set for 82 ohms (an odd value but that is what the ASR has to offer!), and Accuphase specify's under 100 ohms as "optimal". So I would try the 75 .......

In my system, the Cardas has a slight edge over the Gede in depth of soundstage, while the Gede has a more solid bass impact. A word of caution on both of these. They require a very long break-in peri .......

CD playing does indeed have its own set of rituals. The closer to pristine your CD's are and the more perfectly balanced they are, the better the sound because the error correction algorithm is minimi .......

During break-in I found that I was compensating for response anomalies in a cheap phono stage I was using as well as break-in fluctuations by switching down to 510 ohms. On the other hand, the Benz H2 .......

It really depends upon the phono cartridge. In my experience, there are families of phono cartridges where it doesn't matter much at all. However, there are cartridges, such as those designed by Hisay .......

Krall's cd's and SACD's are sibilant too. So this must be a recorded problem. The "mellow" EPC-205 seems to quiet overly sibilant LP's enough to make them tolerable. It's a great cartridge for that. S .......

I have had my EPA-500 since 1982, but it actually came available in 1979. The tonearm's VTA is adjustable via a cam that is built into the tonearm's base. The height adjustment is precise, repeatable, .......

As the suspension breaks in, I have found that the main reason for extreme change in sonics is the need for constant change in VTA. Many MC's are extremely sensitive to VTA and as the suspension goes .......

If I were to run my TNT/SDS at 60hz/120v, the speed is spot on and presumably the frequency and voltage are stable. If I then set the speed with the frequency anchored at 72Hz and the voltage reduced .......

this is a common misunderstanding. The SDS is a generator that has variable voltage and frequency. This allows AC syncronous motors to be run at speed at lower voltages than 120v by altering the volta .......

It's a decent cartridge, but you are S.O.L. No one rebuilds these. I have a couple myself. If you wish to use the MC capabilities of the SL-10, you will need to replace it with some other LOMC P-Moun .......

IMHO, the ultimate rock cartridge is the Technics EPC-205C and EPC-205CmkII. They out track and out rock anything else I have heard. They also are kind to the ears on really crappy rock recordings. Ch .......

I had a buddy with one of these. It was a horrible turntable and an equally bad tonearm. The only phono cartridge of that era, early to mid-70's, that would track worth a damn on it was the SHure V15 .......

I can summarize it by saying that it did most everything well for its price point but in a pure "HiFi" sort of way. It had nice tight deep bass. It didn't have that slightly "wooly" quality as was the .......

This happened to me with a Benz Reference Silver. One of the wires separated from the back of the connection pin. I could barely see the wire, let alone try to actually solder it back onto the pin, so .......
