A question to see if I understand this. My tube amp has 100k input (100k from grid to ground). If I series a .01uF cap on the input, it will start roll off at 150Hz? .......

The problem with SET's is that they don't play loud enough for most people unless with the right speakers and even then, most want louder. .......

I use 414z(same as your 414a) wired straight to 2a3 SET with 807/32c horn crossed in at about 2750 hz with a single cap(Joe Roberts style). The bottom will be SS bi-amped 416(actually 605b) in H-frame .......

You are going to have to help me understand this...- If your 300b amp has a gain of 4 and your SS amp has a gain of 8, wouldn't the same increase in input voltage to both amps result in twice the outp .......

If you are using them in a SET amp, I wouldn't worry about it. If you are using them in a PP amp, you need a SET. .......

I bought a Stereomour from Doc that has a 3B7 driver. I think Paul B. built it while y'all were doing R/D work on the Stereomour II. It has a wide, deep sound stage with lots of detail and instrument .......

Ideally, musician/environment and speaker/room should sound as close to the same as possible. How often does that happen? Lots of things in between to "color" the sound. .......

Can't you get a capacitor close to crossover FQ and fine tune with the grid resistor value? Wouldn't it be cheaper to swap out resistors than caps? What formula do you use to calculate crossover FQ? W .......

Even if you have the perfect "wire with gain" amplifier, you will have "someone else's ear" before and after that will add 'color'. Speaker and room probably trump all other coloring. I like Dennis's .......

Sounds like you had one defective humpot...have you checked it with a meter? I have read that for minimum hum, use the trans ct for cathode resistor and a humpot with cathode bypass cap to the wiper t .......

Lynn Olson had on his site to use felt drawer liner to go around the horn mouth and back in toward the throat. I did this to the horns in my Heresy's and also the plumbers putty that Uncle Mike mentio .......

Bottlehead had the Paraglow and Paramount that were 2A3 DC with C4S on driver. I've used your schematic as a reference to convert my Paraglow to a monkey type circuit. .......

When you don't hear much over 10k, no matter how old you are, full range is satisfactorily achievable with a good 12 or 15 incher. When you listen to singers, voice is what counts. .......

The amps were in storage for several years with issues with the ccs boards, so I didn't make a direct comparison. The sound stage is wide and out front into the room with good detail and midrange. My .......

No coupling cap, Paraglows are direct coupled. But they do have the parafeed cap which may be what you meant. An oil there would be a good try. As CB said, replacing power supply caps is important for .......

Dave, I did add stuffing to the box. My goal was to limit the coloration of the box and any from the horn itself. When I rapped on the side before bracing, it was a deep thump. After it was much highe .......

1) I used plumbers putty to dampen the back of the horns. Rope caulk is also used and I'm sure there are other products. Got this from a Klipsch forum. 2) Used felt drawer liner to go around the mouth .......

Doc B and Paul Joppa are excellent designers. The Stereomour is a good place to start and a good place to end up. I have mono blocks with Magnaquest iron, but always go back to my 3B7/2A3 Stereomour. .......

The 5965 was used in the original Paraglow kit. They would need to know that to help you at BottleHead. The EXO-36 are 16 ohm secondary The EXO-35 are 8 ohm .......

The out of L1,the in of L2, and the top of C1 are the same point schematically. If you are getting two different voltages, they aren't the same point. Check your wiring and soldering. .......

You're correct, it's John Tucker's design. The terminal numbers I gave are off the schematic. The 1431 is D shaped...according to the schematic the top terminal is #2, the middle is #1 and the bottom .......

What happens to leads in your non-tinned joint when it is heated to solder? They move...if they are of different thickness or type/purity of metal, they move at different rates. The question is...are .......

I have a gunsmith friend that built a 68 cal muzzle loader. Shoots a one ounce round ball on top of a 35mm film can worth of black powder. Would knock you out from under a tight fitting hat! Robert :: .......

Roger, the link is a discussion on the Klipsch board about crossovers. The advice seems to be to replace old caps with quality caps of same values(Hoveland, Jensen, Auricap, Kimber). .......

I was never satisfied with the sound of my Heresy II's until I wired them to some Paraglows. A few tweaks got them sounding really sweet and I still have the Foreplay and Paraglows to modify. ::: TOPI .......
