This has a "W" magnet, or it is shaped like a torus. There is no back plate. I believe it is the most efficient magnet structure available, as there is no break in the magnetic circuit. University use .......

I would keep the tad 2004, and ad RAAL ribbon tweeters. Do a sweep of woofer, then overlay sweep of 4001. It is of that there is more information past 100Hz when in 3 way. Study the overlaid curves to .......

Hi Freddyi, My horn works only with a 12. If you don't build mine build the EV horn with your ev 15. It is not the correct parameters but it should work. The EV horn was designed by Don Keele! just c .......

I like the Sentry horn. It was the first horn to my knowledge that used a heavy mass cone in a basshorn ( al.la Danley). Keele has an xclent paper.... an effeciency comarision between direct radiators .......

It is hard to say about sound quality. The University classic can be re-drawn in a simple layout. The Hypex 70 is very small for the output it achieves. Since the hypex is so easy to build.. build it. .......

The RED curve is the midbass horn. The other curve is of a back load horn for a Fostex driver. T he Hypex horn came out very well, as is quite smooth. You should add the little reflector plate as show .......

I think you treat it as a 728b. Since the cone is phenolic, it will not go as high as the paper cone. I would recommend 700Hz if you have a 555w, on the appropriate horn. 1200hz with a jbl/altec 1" dr .......

The BMS has a terrific woofer, but the HF driver is a bit edgy, and the horn is not as good. But I am surprised at the BMS price, and it is a good deal. B&C makes some nice ones too. The 8" B&C is us .......

Hi freddyi, The Karlson will have less excursion because of semi-bandpass loading, but I don't think it will have as much output at 110Hz. Note that the RMAF box is not a quasi horn- it is just a smoo .......

In a Karlson box it does not matter much, if it is an exponential opening, or an exponential slot. The Karslon is a type off bandpass box with the internal vent helping to load the front , slotted c .......

The big horn was crossed over at 700Hz. Note that since they are conical horns, the sound of each horn is the same, because the throat/flare are exactly the same. One just goes lower than the other. B .......

The vents are large....18" x 6" x 15" deep ( two combined). There is a pillow sized wad of insulation behind the woofer-- no place else. Using more insulation just sucks up power and adds unwanted res .......

The Bentwood's are really nice horns, they have an exponential flare, so they will have a narrow radiation pattern. Reasonably priced too! I am surprised the Multicells do have a sweet spot . Multicel .......

It is really a compromise between a bass reflex and backload horn, both of which will not perform as well as a compression horn. Of course the compression horn is 3 times the size if done correctly. b .......

Actually the driver itself is pretty good. A special version of the 901 driver is used in a large hornloaded PA system called the Panaray. It is not that bad. But the 901-- well if you listen to furni .......

The gap is on part to the big vent, and in part the floor. Notice the reflex has it too. The gap looks deeper because the output is higher- 5dB higher past 200Hz. That is the idea of half of a horn. Y .......

Not at all. To my knowledge the only other mutual load design is the Jensen Transflex. I believe this is why the Karlson is so clear in the 110Hz area. It truly is a great design. ....not as good as .......

Note spl goes up 4dB at 40Hz with two horns. ..and xmax is at the mechcanical limit. Try UCS1 in corner at a kilowatt , vs 18" woofer! I will not stand by and and see horns abused! Also-even though .......

I have found that a range of 45deg to 80deg works the best. Once the angle gets past 80 deg, you run into low end loading problems- even if you make the mouth bigger. You should see this in simulation .......
