I have the first version with the 5V4G rectifier tube and 4uf oil cap off it. Do these oil caps go bad? I plan on swapping out the 40-40-8-8 lytics. Should I go with poly caps in here? Thanks in advan .......

Thanks Joe. The horn will eventually end up in the cabinet with the driver facing up. My set-up sounds much better in the 828 horn cabinet, blends nicely. I've gone mono for a few years now, really do .......

Hey Mike- I rebuilt mine a couple of years ago but with lytics in the PS. The 1st cap in the PS section is listed as 40uf/450V. Can I get away with a smaller value 20uf/700v film cap in this pos1tion .......

You have the deck now with get drive and dynamics. That cartridge is a toy compared to what you have underneath it. The 103 is somewhat of a side ways move. Go 103R with a wood or metal body at least. .......

I like Obbligato oilers in my PS. I tried a CDE PP type...took it out after a few hours. But to be fair I did not take the time to let it break-in I guess. Just didn't sound as smooth as the oil. The .......

I should have grabbed the last one I saw on ebay. It was in very good condition. I've used vintage PP EL84 amps with my Flamenco's and 604B speakers but prefer by a wide margin DC SET 2A3 or 45 amplif .......

This would be the better comparision. Next to the Fisher X-1000 the X-101 is the best Fisher integrated in their line-up IMO. I use the the Fisher EL84 mono's in a few of my systems, very nice amps af .......

Rebuilt TD124's done right are not old clunkers any more after finishing up the work. Some would say clunky in operation. Unfortunately TD124's need to be rebulit and tweaked periodically to keep them .......

Try mortite rope chaulk. I just applied it the top portion of the horn. Does the job and it comes off easily. The 811 does not ring as much as the 511 horn so you don't need a whole lot. Next step wou .......

Let's see how the DL-102 will compare. Yes, "purity" is a good word to describe it. It's been hit or miss so far with some recordings. I have some stereo-to-mono transformers coming too for high level .......

One of the coupling caps and the cathode bypass where bad. Replaced the coupling caps with Russian PIO's, replaced the pf caps with silver mica's, matched inverter resistors added and dropped in a 200 .......

Ok, did some cleaning up of the rectifier socket and now I'm getting 6.8VAC across the filaments of all the tubes. Did some monitoring upon power-up and I'm getting 405VDC intially but starts to drop .......

Yes, the 6.3VAC is down plus I'm not getting the 405VDC out at pin 3. I'm getting 354VDC. If I isolate C1 shouldn't I get the 405VDC from the EZ80? My meter is good. I'll pull the tube in the morning .......

I'm measuring 5.4VAC (supposed to be 6.3VAC) cross my filaments of the EZ80 rectifier and 354VDC out. The schematic shows that I'm supose to see 405VDC. Is this lower filament voltage causing the l .......

I used a Elna Silmic II between the outputs, replaced the mmf's with silver mica's, Russian teflon at the input and the Sprague Atoms in the p/s. There is enough room in there to leave the can cap in .......

Replaced the coupling caps with Russian PIO's and the rest of the caps a few months ago along with a few resistors that were out of spec. Finally finshed replacing the p/s filter cap with Atoms...big .......

The TD124 will keep you toe-tipping for a long time. The TD124 provides the drive that most all TT's (affordable ones)are lacking. The belt drive Thorens, Rega and Linn lack this drive but but the TD1 .......

I just picked-up Tillerman and Teaser with these dead-wax stampings and they sound very good. The mo-fi Tillerman sounds more hi-fi. Both are very good in there own way. I do prefer the LH one for it' .......

No doubt about the Cinemag 103/103R combo. I was using a 103R/IsoKinetik aluminum headshell for a while. At the end of the day the 103R is still missing the mark in the highs IMHO. .......

My arm's effective mass is 18g. I was getting a res freq of barely 7Hz with the S1 and I got the same for the 103D. The compliance for both of these cartridges must be over 20. I found the S1 and 103D .......

I agree, in fact I don't like loading my Cinemags at all. My 3.5ohm - 10ohm cartridges sound just fine with the 40ohm primary and my DL-103 sounded best with the 150ohm. Maybe not perfect with the num .......

That could be right. My fi Yph phono stage has the same gain. The fi was developed for adding SUT's and your typical line stage has around 20dB so adding all the gains up will put you at 60dB or more. .......

I had a similar situation. It turned out to be that my Grace headshell pins were not making good contact against the pins in the arm. Switched over to a Sumiko headshell for the fix. .......

Yes, adjustment from the bottom- large set-screw. There is a spec in the service manual for proper set-up. Make sure to check belt position on the pulleys and the idler positioning. These adjustments .......

The phono stage is the fi Yph. It's 24dB per Don Garber. Do you think the Jensen SUT that you mentioned would work with the 103? Impedance wise? .......

I'm having intermittent problems with the speed on 33.33rpm. At times it comes up to speed properly and sometimes it comes up very slow but never up to speed. A couple of times I experienced squealing .......

How long did it take you to find the FR64S? The Empire 98 tonearm on my 298 TT sounds wonderful with the DL-103/Woody and DL-103fl. My calculations puts the 98 at over 20g effective mass. I want to go .......

The fi X should be perfect to tame the mid range/high end of your La Scala's a bit. Smooth, smooth, smooth. The X does not come up for sale often for good reason though you need at least 96dB efficien .......

I'd say by your measurements it's obvious mass isn't an issue with your arm and that you're very satisfied with the sound. I read that Grace 714 and 840 arms sound very good with the 103 and the 714 i .......

You need at least 15 grams of effect mass and that might not be enough. Mines on a heavy arm and sounds well balanced top to bottom. .......

You need to install chassis mount RCA jacks on a plastic or metal angle and mount this to the base. Next solder the tonearm wires to the jacks and plug in your IC's. .......

So the 37.5 tap gives me the 1:36 turns ratio and that's 32dB of gain (in decibels). My Bugle is adding another 40dB for a total of 72dB for the combined as my phono stage. It seems most line stages .......
