I have heard the 1.7 with Esoteric A-03 which is 50 watts class A and it sounded terrific. Very dynamic and effortless. I would suggest you look for one of these high current pure class A amps. Pliniu .......

Yes, it is based on Rk-o-kut but seemingly taken quite a bit far. I can manage the issue of alignment because normally my music room is not trespassed. Moreover I can use a bit of blue-tack to firm it .......

That we are discussing in this thread except Takatsuki. The best of them is IMO Sophia Mesh plate. It retains the magical sound of 300B (unlike EML) but sounds much more resolved and extended than Shu .......

You are right, I prefer the EL84 sound much more than 300B. It is more open and dynamic. My speakers are not 88db, it is 93db but it needs good 20 watts to be properly controlled. Have you tried M5/M .......

If your turntable and/or your phonostage is not damped enough you get to hear more prominent surface noise. Typically when placed on very hard surface (granite, marble, steel) this can get accentuated .......

As much as I could read about Chimeras...I found them to be a very good VFM interconnect but they dont seem to be laidback at all. Rather they are known to provide a lifelike immediacy with a forwardn .......

I have heard a Rega Jupiter but didnt like it because it was slow sounding...is Meridian a similar sounding thing or is it even slower ? .......

Hi Rojoh, Are you saying that Meridian is kind of boring and slow compared to the Arcam ? What kind of music you listen to ? How do you compare the bass between the two players (Arcam and Meridian) ? .......

Buying a seperate DAC is something I am considering but dont want to take a chance unless a few first hand users vouch for it. For the budget I have, I dont expect anything thats well proven and accla .......
