Second Brian's suggestion. Merrylander is a great guy that painstakingly refurbs Yamaha gear (mostly). I'm a huge fan of Yamaha gear. I also love Onkyo. The TX-4500 is a very fine receiver. ::: TOPIC: .......

I could live with my Kenwood Basic C2--it is a very fine preamp with no vices. But I am using my Yamaha CX-2, and I would use the C-80 before the C2. .......

Yamaha or Onkyo receiver. Technics tt. Sony cdplayer. Speakers are more personal and can depend on power output of the amplifier in question. Go for at LEAST 50 wpc. .......

Should be a nice receiver. 1981-84, 65 wpc, $565. I have had the 70s TOTL KR-9400 & KR-9600, and use three late-80s Kenwood amps in my HT. The 80s stuff is pretty well made. $71 is a pretty good price .......

Hmmmmm I'd suggest that the Kenwood Supreme 600 integrated amp has a better preamp section than that Technics. There is a lot of discussion on the various Kenwood Supreme models at the website below. .......

Yes, I can recommend Onkyo. Great stuff. Under the radar. I would look for the superb 90 wpc TX-7000 or the great 65 wpc TX-5000. They have very fine phono sections and very good tuners. Excellent all .......
