Based on your info, here are my best guesses: 2001's within tolerance, although your meter reads a bit high. Suggest getting a Fluke meter. The 4001 with an older 16 ohm Be diaphragm will read around .......

Other than speaker choice and placement, 'fat' soundstage can occur if somewhere along the recording or playback path, the phasing was 'out of sync' or reversed, and/or pan & mix were done on speakers .......

As long as you filter out the LF, you should be OK. I also have a switching thump from my Pass A-30. Running TAD 2001s with cap XO, and Lowthers, have never had a problem — and the TADs beryllium more .......

Yes, this is the copy from TAD website on the 2001, but on the 4001s I have — just pulled the VC dome assembly — the surround is Beryllium, not polymer. Perhaps TAD has 'new & improved' the manufactur .......

Yes, should be enough power. Clipping may be an issue if you crank it up to earbleed levels, or do an imitation of a low rider. Definitely audition a Pass for your Altecs if you have the opportunity. .......

Yup, sounds like you may have flux reduction problem (if VC in proper alignment). Bugscreen may reduce SPL by 1db, but nowhere near 9db... unless plugged by chewing gum, cigarette butts, and other str .......
