Jeff, check out http://xbmc.org/ and http://plexapp.com/ for media playback. Use http://sbooth.org/Max/ or http://tmkk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/xld/index_e.html for ripping CDs. Also have a look at http://ex .......

Rick, DirectSound isn't the best choice since the audio is resampled to the bith depth and rate of the OS audio mixer (usually 16/48kHz). I strongly recommend using foobar2000 for playback with ASIO o .......

Has anyone compared burned in opamps with new opamps using an oscilloscope and running square waves through them, or something like that? .......

I'll keep that in mind, however, I think you're wrong. :) I've got the impression that CD players disable the output signal when the player is not in Play mode to avoid any possible DC leakage. Can so .......

The noise seems to always be there. I have to turn up the volume a bit to be able to hear it but not to ear deafening volumes. It's always there somewhere in the background but not audible until I cra .......

Maybe I should make it more clear that it is a background noise. The music sounds just fine. .......

That's not the problem. The signal is not clipped, but a little bit of noise is added. Hardly noticable at normal listening levels. BTW, it's a passive preamp. .......

After almost a year of upgrading (no hurry) I've finally replaced all parts in my old system. I think it's a rather revealing system now and when I play music loud I can hear some noise. It's only a n .......

I have the older version, XO. I actually reused it from an older CD-player that I've modified. Would be interesting to know if it's worth upgrading from XO to X2. I haven't dealt with them directly. G .......

What can I say... Just do it. I bought a used Copland CDA 288 a month ago but found the sound of it a little bit boring. I knew its weakness was jitter so I replaced the oscillator with LClock XO from .......
