For that price a Blue Sky System One can be had new. This is 2.1, but designed to be a sat/sub system from the start. For a lot less, the Prodesk is good. But I prefer the System One. George ::: .......

I have found the AKM dacs to all be very good. Good enough anyway. I like the 4395 and 4396 to sound great. The newer ones are most likely just as good or better. Without having heard the Bifrost it .......

Those are MC loading resistors. MM is set. The way to calculate two switches on is product over sum. Usually go with 5-10 times cartridge impedance. So say for 14 ohm like my DL-103R, 70 - 140 ohms. .......

The latest MH gear uses out of date, low cost parts. The dacs are AK4395 chips, the output stage is made with NE5532. The 200.00 EMU-404USB uses the same parts. But the Metric Halo is seen as a SOTA .......

It should not hurt the amplifier modules. The circuit is opamps and chip amps. But they seem to peak in 30 minutes of playing. Cannot say they sound any better after 3 - 4 hours. Others may feel dif .......

With a 1TB drive, the flucuating current will not be very good on your USB power buss. At 5 volts, 5 watts draws an ampere. That is a lot of current. Especially transmitted through the small ga wires .......

The plastic looking sealant is cheap looking, oiled finish would look much nicer. But the stuff they use is waterproof and tough. May last longer than I do. My wife may not let me go back to painted .......

Tried it upsampling to 88.2 and then back to 44.1. It sounds different, the upsampling is more diffuse, the edges a little softer. The native 44.1 is more dynamic to my ears. May be just a little mor .......

I listened to the Audioengine A5 and was blown away by the sound quality at RMAF. It is not great reproduction, but for 350.00 a pair this is fantastic. I have a pair of Wharfedale 8.2 Pro, Quad 11L .......

There are lighter models, but the stiffness may be a big issue. If you are getting a resonance at 6 - 7 Hz, this sure sounds low. Any SME style will work. One with two locating pins would be an impr .......

Their are several components in our systems in common. The 22L and Cambridge amps are the issue. A tighter amp may solve the boomy bass problem. Are the mids nad highs to your liking with the current .......

Guess the Mac Mini is the first step. Then the Duet as a conversion devise. Reading up on it, shows it works perfectly with Apple products. The ADC is important if I am going to be ripping vinyl or .......

I have a WFR-20 in my office. It is hooked up to a pair of Quad 11L Active. The wife picked it up at Fry's last Christmas. The sound quality definately is not up to some on air standards. Hope this .......
