The power supply electrolytic capacitors are now 50 years old. They probably dried out 25 years ago. You have a choice of leaving it as is and enjoying it as a display piece or going for a full rebuil .......

You shouldn't need a schematic for many audio amplifiers since so much about them is similar. Each is going to have a power supply with a rectifier, probably a choke and certainly power supply capacit .......

Solder IS liquid when heated. There should be no problem soldering a component onto the board from either side as long as the wire or legs of the capacitor are in the proper holes in the circuit board .......

It can damage a tube amp to not have a load on it, but it generally does not happen unless a large signal was put into the amp. So the first thing to do is to check all the fuses. .......

It's far more likely that the tubes were damaged because the high voltage supply slams the 300B plates with over 500V before the tube can conduct. The Welbourne amp needs a separate switch for the 30 .......

Yes, you definitely have a ground loop and it is rarely a good idea to ground the RCA input jacks at the chassis. I would snip the ground going from the RCA jack to the chassis. Then connect your ohm .......

It is really amazing how many of these weird popping and scratching sounds are the result of old or cheap sockets. I have replaced Chinese sockets on several amps in for repair with NOS American made .......

I don't have the EML 2A3 mesh plate, but I do use the EML 320B-XLS tubes daily and in my opinion they are beautifully made, excellent quality, and I expect them to last for years. I paid just over $55 .......

You probably want to consider the tube's operating point as a function of its life expectancy. A 300B run at 250V at 50mA will last years longer than one run at 450V at 80mA. Both are legitimate opera .......
