Do you have a digital rig hooked up in the same system? Check to see if you have even the slightest perception of a hum with that input. If so, I think it's a ground loop issue that the vinyl side is .......

Not sure what your budget is, but you should consider Klipsch Heritage speakers. A used pair of Fortes or Cornwalls would be awesome. And the size of your room would dictate which one is more appropri .......

I had an earlier version of the Pendragon for a short while. It was pretty good, competitive with other 2K speakers. But giant killers? No. I think the bottleneck was the lively cabinet. A more inert .......

Passive has no "drawbacks" if it is inserted into the right system. High amp input sensitivity and input impedance, fairly sensitive speakers and solid source output, absolutely no reason to add gain .......

This is one of the reasons I tell people when mixing two channel and multi channel, you will have to pick which one is most important and focus on that. You can't have optimum performance for both in .......

Use the high level inputs on the sub. Just piggy back off the speaker terminals on the receiver. The subwoofer amp will convert this to line level. It will sound fine. .......

Yeah, you'll need every bit of that 100 watts. As stated above, go used. If you already have a preamp, your best bang for buck will be a good used SS amp. You'll not find a tube amp that can drive tho .......

I wouldn't call it "ruthless revealing" by any stretch. It is very transparent for a tube preamp, but very full bodied with good tone. Not at all like modern day Audio Research gear, but nothing like .......

I concur. I owned the Forte III briefly and now own the Cornwall IV. This is an amazing loudspeaker and far removed from previous iterations. The early buzz about the Forte IV is that it is very good .......

I have been back and forth with Tidal and Qobuz for a while now, both have their merits. Tidal has a better sort feature in the Lumin app, Qobuz only sorts by date added. I like the curated playlists .......

I tried pendragons too. They were not bad, but I moved on. Bass was not the issue. Your mistake was thinking they would be broken in after only three days. Not happening with these or most any speaker .......

Yes, I think it is a dual purpose control. It does have a remote using a Khozmo 64 step attenuator. I have fond memories of the 1.6/RM9 combo. That was a pairing that shouldn't have worked on paper, b .......

I just ripped 30 cds to my hard drive using jriver media center v23 using the flac encoder. This is the first time i've used jriver, I usually use media monkey. All the files show up in my folder in t .......

The player will make a huge difference. I went from a SB Touch to a Chromecast renderer using Jriver media server. The improvement was dramatic. I then bought a Digione Pi player attached to Logitech .......

I don't think much of older OR newer seedee players now that you can get into the file streaming side with a good DAC for so little. I'm not sure how much you'd have to spend on a player to better the .......

Agreed. Speakers should be able to play more than just classical or "girl with guitar/piano" music. Throw some Tool, Rage Against the Machine, or Primus at a pair of speakers. If they can handle this .......

IIRC it was the mid to late 2000s. I had one for a while and it is indeed a fantastic preamp if your system is passive friendly. It beat out some much more pricey active preamps in my system. Oz ::: .......

Thanks for your input. I replaced my SB Touch and CIA power supply with the chromecast and the improvement was not subtle. I'm sure there are better solutions, but this sounds so damn good for so litt .......
