if the rectifier tubes ARE blown, dont just plug in new ones, you uneed to figure out what caused them to blow first, or you may blow the new ones also. .......

Any unit that old will need to be addressed by a tech to replace aging electrolyic caps and any paper caps, using a unit of that vintage in an unrestored state is extremely risky, even if it seems to .......

I have a Silvertone radio from about 1936 that specs those tubes, 6 of them! Push pull parrallel, with 2 more in a push pull driver. Dont have any of the tubes, have a pair of regular 45s for the dri .......

hard to beat a GE VR2 for mono records. Works best with older high mass tonearms-like an old Garrard type A. .......

My Best goodwill score: Saw a few Bob Dylan records... So I kept digging.. And found his first LP, mono pressing, with an AUTOGRAPHED cover. A bit worn.. But still a nice find Found a few decent psych .......

There is some truth to this, most newer after 1958 or so 45s are cut with loudly modulated grooves, improving signal to noise ratio and dynamics, and they suffer less from inner grrove distortion than .......

The Duals arer good changers, but a bit slow, and quite finicky to get the all the auto functions working right after 45 years.. Ive never seen a 45 spindle that fits the BSR 810, ive been looking bec .......

In the 50s, lots of people owned those little 45 rpm only record changers. RCA sold millions of them cheaply when they introduced the 45rpm format. There was also a bit of a format war between RCAs 45 .......

You might want to check out hamfests , I have found some that way. Also many cities and states have an antique radio club that has occasional swapmeets. A listing of hamfests Can be found on the ARRL .......

My best find was a mono copy of Bob Dylans first album.. Autographed, at Goodwill for a buck. Keep in mind I took me 20 years of visiting several Thrifts a week to find that...I figure I looked throug .......

I'm kinda partial to my Pilot AA-410A's.. but good luck finding a pair.. I lucked out and found them at a hamfest cheap.. many moons ago. originally equipped with tung-sol 5881's but I usually run met .......

Looks like about a 1935-36 model. Many of the fancier Silvertones of that period were very well made, with shielded coils i have a chassis out of a similar model that has 14 tubes, a separate oscillat .......

I did the math.. 23 years of shopping at thrift stores.. about 2 thrift stores a week average, aprox 400 records per thrift store Comes out to about a million....Not something to be undertaken lightly .......

I found a bunch of early Mono pressing Bob Dylan records at my local Goodwill store..Including an Autographed copy of his first album., not bad for 75 cents each! Covers are a little worn, but they so .......
