I have some early 1948 RCA 12au7s that are labeled "AMERICAN" with date codes of 48 12. I'm not exactly sure when the very first 12au7 was produced but it had to be around this time period. These are .......

For me the best part of gear from the '80s is all the features for vinyl playback.The ability to hookup multiple turntables(in the case of the Denon 3 phono inputs 2 mm 1 mc),built in step-up transfor .......

The DL-S1 compliance at 10Hz should be in the 25x10-6cm/Dyne area.This would require a very light arm(5 gram effective mass) to come in around the 10Hz range.Am I missing something? I just don't fin .......

I believe the OP clearly stated his effective length is 230mm with 18mm of overhang so the pivot to spindle would be 212mm. .......

The tube appears to be a 5965/12av7 and is not a clear top.A clear top would have the getter on the side. Searching thru some pics I came up with. Hope this helps. .......

The Mazda short plates are nice along with the Tung-sol(6CG7),grey or black plates.Also the black plate Raytheons(6CG7) if a nice clear midband is your thing,but they don't have the tone the Tung-sol .......

My VTL monos also came stock with the Sovtek 5881's,never liked the sound of these tubes.The Sovteks were replaced with the "tube of the month" and biased to 45mA,burned in for 40-50 hours and still .......

Do you have access to a tube tester?The blue arc may be signs of a short within that one tube.I would try a differnt tube in that position(be ready to power down).There are a lot of tube testers thou .......
