I can remember listening to some Telarc Cds that were not SACDs that sound pretty impressive to me as far Soundstage Imaging & some single layered CBS SACDs that had very distinct Analog like sound to .......

While this was a Universal Player it was only a Mediocre SACD/CD player as it had none of the ES pedigree,(Such as the Sony DVPS900ES. As time went on none the ES series retained the output Standards .......

The "On/Off" switch is a completely separate switch....which is why I was guessing that the Gain switch is added onto that signal path. I'm waiting to hear back from Schiit before I "snip" it out thou .......

I have an extra 6dB of gain in my Schiit Magni 3 Headphone amp ,on a 2 position gain switch, that I absolutely don't need or want. The Hp amp is being fed from my Metrum Hex DAC & as such starting out .......

I pretty much do the same with my CDs (using dBPoweramp to rip the files)& CD layer of my Hybrid SACDs. I do prefer to rip everything to WAV though as digital storage space isn't that expensive these .......

Thanks guys ! I've actually cleaned pins & sockets before ,but I wasn't familiar with "tensioning" the pin sockets ! I ended up going back to my McCormack Micro Line Drive as it's the only HPA I have .......

The answer to this depends on how high your "PC Audio" knowledge is ! If you are a "plug & play" type of person then you may very well get better SQ results using a high quality CD player signal path. .......

If you're going to insist on using your Computer as a player JRMC is probably a pretty decent "One Stop" way to get your foot in the door. Personally(Not being an IT guy),I just use my Auraliti PK100 .......

Another suggestion if this does turn out to be the culprit . After you've "re-snugged up" anything that may have loosened up, put a tiny bit of "Loctite" or similar on a cue tip & put it on top of the .......

Depending upon how your CD transport is attached to the players chasis one or more screws holding it in place may have become slightly loose.. The slight ticking you're hearing may be due to the rotat .......

Actually, for Acoustic recordings (with a few $k of line conditioning in front of the playback chain) the HD800 aren't being "Ananalytical". they are only working as "Mechanically" as their design all .......

It sounds more like the DAC's power supply is only moving the signal as long as the capacitors allow the signal to progress. At some point they simply don't have enough charge In them for the circuit .......

Actually ,after Duster mentioned it, I did end up changing the interconnects I was using between my Metrum Hex DAC & the Soloist My thinking was, as "neutral" sounding as I'd been able to bring my HD .......

That would be very unique indeed as Stax headphones would require that the amplifier would need an additional electrostatic amplification section as dynamic headphone amplifiers won' t drive "stats". .......

If there is a complaint I have about my Burson Soloist it would be the stepped attenuator volume control. For the wide dynamics music I listen to (just about always) the "steps" are'nt gradual enough. .......

Very good point about 3wpc (& we're talking about "tube" wpc here) should make just about any set of HPs "sing" The ampandsound SE84 appears to be an "amp of choice" with any of the Sennheisers. Hmmm. .......

Yeah, I'll bet "full Frequency" Broadcasts on an FM Tuner through my Metrum Hex DAC would sound very good.(I think the Hex DAC is making the Internet feeds sound better than any reasonable expectation .......

I've decided not to go through with converting my Wav & Flac(uncompressed only) files as they are sounding pretty exceptional through my Digital file player(which uses BNC to output the files to my DA .......

I have a feeling that there is'nt that much,but I'm tempted to convert everything to AIFF to see if there is better album art support in MPad. The album art showed up in the folders of better than 95% .......
