i can not confirm your impression. my lyric Ti 140 can handle KT150 and i tried them critically again and again but never was satisfied with their bass performance which was lacking and sluggish to my .......

yes, pipe cleaners will fit with most sockets. they look thick but one end is thinner than the other end. so you can choose the diameter/thickness you need. (unfortunately not visible on my added pic. .......

all true regular siemens ECC83 have the same charcateristic signature in sound IMO. the E83CC triple mica version is something special. more attack, forward and refined but a bit harsh to my ears/in m .......

i suggest Philips ECC83 as famous "allrounder" - good midrange, punchy bass and silky high range. performs on the "warm" side. mostly stamped as Valvo but made in the netherlands by philips in Heerlen .......

i only can tell that in my atlas magnum mk1 KT120 do not sound as EL34 at all and did not in my other amps either. if you seek EL34 sound you should use EL34 in your future amp. otherwise you might be .......

yeah, if you are keen on bass performance the EH is a MUST! i have tried many chinese and vintage KT88, Ei KT90 etc. in my rogue atlas magnum and admit that EH performs a bit on the clean and "cool" s .......

in the the atlas magnum´s 12AX7 position i highly recommend trying telefunken ECC808 (CAUTION! WORKS WITH SOCKET ADAPTOR ONLY!) instead of any 12AX7. it even sounds better than a tele ECC803s and you .......

correct! 35 mA offers the best performance. also recommended for KT88. i tried higher currents but the sound is narrow and boring then. other amp users might laugh about that low bias but 35 mA always .......

BTW: combined with KT88 treasure Z or penta SC KT88 (now labelled as RUBY KT88V-STR's) you can imo probably expect one of the the very best performance from the atlas magnum when swapping to telefunke .......

i often use a single pipe cleaner/chenille stem with a bit polishing paste you would find in your household. just rub the stem through the pins and finally remove the residues with an old tooth brush .......

my experience says, if your gear is designed for KT88 (what i do not know but assume...) you should stick with KT88 or 6550 tubes. otherwise after some weeks or months you will automatically feel that .......

are you sure? correct bias depends on anode voltage too! rogue audio recommends only 35 mA bias for KT88/90/120 tubes in their atlas magnum. i am thus running the 120`s at 40 mA maximum and they sound .......

hmm...i dropped in E80CCs in my Vincent SP331 Mk hybrid power amp where orininally 12AU7 should work. the amp sounds extraordinary much better with the E80CC than it does with any other 12AU7 i tested .......

thank you! i think heater current is no problem at all. the ATLAS Magnum can handle KT120 also. i feel uncertain about the bias for the EL156. rogue recommends only 35 mA for each KT-type (88...120!) .......

i assume the ST 100 is exactly and only designed for KT120. so switching over to other 6550, KT88 or even KT77 could be impossible caused by a higher plate voltage especially for that KT120 tube. less .......

hm.... i can only speak for my magnum. it can take from EL34 over KT77 any tube up to KT120 and of course 6550/KT88/KT90. bias for EL34 may be 30 mA only! even the stronger types take not more than 35 .......

i have two W19 and on both the "good" range starts at 1.9 mA! i had a W20 once and caused by different testing parameters "good" started at 1.2 mA on that as i remember. 3.0 mA is a rather strange val .......

when you pulled your tubes fix base and bulb with superglue by letting some glue just drop into the gap between glass and socket. makes your tubes tough enough for the next rollings. i made it success .......

thanx, yes, i would try a special KT90 amp. i´ve tried KT90 in my welter monos and they sounded rather good at 425 V. in my octave Re 280 Mk II they sounded rather muddy at over 500 volts. btw: type I .......

never saw tfk 802s tubes with gold pins, 801s either. none of the tfk´s in my collection has gold pins exept the 803s type. N. ps: look for the diamond logo in the glass bottom. if you won´t find it .......

yes, in my opinion the yugo EI KT90 is the best KT88 clone made ever. (even the type III sounds stunning). rather astonishing that only higher plate voltage should make them sound right in KT88 gear.. .......

may be your output transformers will mismatch with KT120 and KT90 too. in this case you will be disappointed. both tubes will probably sound muddy, lacking dynamics and punch. i made this experience. .......
