I briefly heard a pair of these driven by Burmester gear in Singapore and was really taken with them, for their ease and yet detailed presentation. Soundstaging was incredible and gave instant percept .......

Perhaps the Strauss speakers had a lot to do with it. I heard them with a Burmester cd and integrated with the same effect - I loved the set up. On the other hand I tried the 201's here at home and wh .......

thanks Guy - will know to watch out for this. Fuses are easy to sort out - those ceramic ones are usually pretty sensitve/fast blow too. hum would be harder though! Murray .......

it'll be hard to find a dealer who will do a home demo out here in New Zealand I think - don't think the JC-1 is even sold here! Have tried some valve/mosfet hybrid amps and are still coming to grips .......

I'm presently using a Tact RCS2.2X as a DAC in my system. Though tthe SCD XA777ES seems to be very well regarded, I find the 2.2X achieves much more detail in all areas (bass through treble) than my S .......

I'm tending toward a digital system - Tact 2.2X based actually. The digital side and DAC is fine but I definitely lose resolution with my vinyl going via the digital system - I'm suspecting the 24/196 .......

yep - think you are right - its a balance and I shouldn't have listened to the Campaniles when my budget doesn't go there - but its fun and if you and the dealer are clear on this then it sort of sets .......

Interesting - I agree - the speakers that I listened to last week that really stood out were Acapella Campaniles - horns at around 3 - 4x the cost of 801's. The mids and treble in those seemed to be a .......

yep, have done exactly that with the DSP8024. Solved most of the "digitisation" I was finding in using it. But it adds about 1.6ms processing delay (like moving your woofer back about 500mm I think - .......

Glad you are enjoying it! Would be interested to know what load you have been using. I run anything from 100 ohms to infinte, but on most good recordings settle on around 1000 ohms or infinte - roughl .......

I have discovered a different world when I removed the burden from my Shelter 901. Life suddenly appeared in hte music, highs were clean and extended and the whole sound was much more relaxed and free .......

I run N801's and SCD-1 with the Plinius SA250-4. The Plinius and 801's are often paired in NZ because the Plinius is made here and they go together really well. I have no doubt you would find the bass .......

what time delay occurs through the BFD1100P? The 8024 takes about 1.6ms (from memory) to process the signal so the bass arrives 1.6ms late - like moving the woofer back 0.6m or so I think I worked out .......

Check out the digital Behringer DSP8024 - lots on this site and web. Applied correctly (ie with line levels before attenuation by the volume control) it can be very good, but not up to vinyl level res .......

I'm lucky enough to be going to europe on holiday. New Zealand is great but not a hifi mecca so am pretty keen to see and hear what I can while in Europe. The Hifi show is on in London so will target .......
