I heard a lot of distortion with my Ortofon Super OM20. Even after cleaning the stylus. Thankfully i had a spare stylus, no distortion anymore. Just ordered a new original Ortofon Stylus 20 from Thakk .......

Real old mono records can have a wider groove than modern stereo records. So i would go for a conical stylus. Old school Shure M75. Shure M44. Ortofon has the OMD25M mono cartridge. .......

Clean the 4 pins at the back of the headshell. Screw in the headshell until the pins make good contact with the arm. If necessary, replace the headshell wires. I happen to like Shure carts. Just sold .......

That's a lot of money for 40+ year old complex mechanical devices. The Thorens is a fairly simple belt drive affair, easier to maintain than the complex automatic Duals. The 1019 is a changer no less. .......

The TD150mk2 is superior to the 160 IMHO. The old motors were better than the new ones. I've had a TD166 with a TD150 motor, very quiet. The 125 is a different beast, built heavier, with the motor on .......

Thorens parts are hard to get and thus expensive. I once put a Lenco L75 small weight on a TD150 because the original small weight was missing. The Lenco weight fit but was probably somewhat heavier t .......

Look at the cartridge Rega mounted on this 350 euro RP1. This is a dirt cheap AT DJ cart i once ordered on a metal Jap headshell for 17 euro. An AT95 would be a big improvement. .......

Vinyl (replay) still is, and always will be, a niche market. So there is little new production especially under 1000 $/euro. The DJ's have left vinyl which is a pity since they kept the pressing plant .......
