Mike Sanders kinda has the opinion that a matched pair will last longer and be less hassle over the years as tubes get older. If only unmatched are available they will certainly not hurt the amps and .......

QS has made some great products over the years. Your silver 70's my V4's no longer made are/were well made amplifiers that ran without issues and sounded wonderful for what they were in their price ra .......

So I just replaced my warn out power tubes after 6 yrs of play, KT-150s. Pricing replacements of the KT-150s is like $1400 for a set of octet matched which is what I need to do both mono blocks. I end .......

I had these many years ago. Nice amps, took up lots of room but looked beautiful and sounded like triode amps should. Only thing, a real pain in the ass was the screw driver needed to get the cage off .......

Bias not only affects power-tube performance, but it can also impact the sound and the lifespan of said tubes. As already mentioned, if the bias voltage isn't negative enough, then the tubes will run .......

That sounds right. I did have a 6 month free trial of Tidal given to me from KEF when I bought my home speakers. There was a definite difference of SQ from free Spotify or YouTube Music. It's just had .......

I use the SR100 for my 310E with pretty good results. Tried the whip but didn't think it did any better in my situation. Both achieved a value of 7 on the strength meter but for some reason the SR100 .......

Sanders even recommends them, the TS150s, for the V4s when time comes for replacement of OEM KT88s. Even if equipped with the older OTs, he simply loves the sound of these new tubes. .......

Give the "Pure Audio" button a try if you have not already. It turns off the video section of the Oppo and shuts down the screen read out. In theory it's a good idea. Also switch off "power saver" m .......

So Quicksilver recently went to the TS KT-150 that replaces the JJ KT-88 on V4 models, they also recommend, when retubing is needed, to go to the kt150 as the replacement. The tubes are almost double .......

The DACs the 105 uses is the SABRE32 DAC. From what I've read, this DAC is expensive and used in other more costly hi end players...though I'm only quoting what I've read in a few reviews. ::: TOPIC: .......

My guess is he's running tubes conservatively but I will keep my eyes open for yellow going to red. Whats interestimg is, he recommends 40ma for EL34s and KT-88. The 88s can range up to 55ma, the 34s .......

Bass tightening compared to woolly is my guess, at least based on my experience on ET LFT-8s. But MMGs could be a whole different scenario as they are bass deficient ergo they might need the overhang. .......

Ran a volt meter on the preamp last night(with all ICs disconnected) and a lower value was achieved when the writing on the PC ran to the sides of the neg, so in theory it should sound better in this .......

Lar, The place where the 310E is superior to the 350B is in it's ability to pull in long distance stations, otherwise they are close in terms of listener satisfaction(the 4310 might be in a complete d .......

Tough to say. In terms of collect-ability I'd say the 4310, 310E then the other 310 series tuners etc and down the line, based on what I have read. As to performance, having never heard the 4310 I ca .......

I believe the 4310 cost more to produce and is harder to find thus more desirable. Which is better, damn if I know, I'm just glad to have my found this particular 310E. .......

I agree...I found that the EH will change a bit after break in. I would recommend anyone not to give up on these unless they have gotten at least 200 hours on them, based my experience FWIW. ::: TOPIC .......

Just a follow up to my OP. I tried the speakers w/ extreme toe-in and found the sound very closed in with the hi-freq quite shut in. Back to the original "little to no toe-in" that most seem to subs .......

The funny thing is I feel the same way about my original MD FT101 that I bought back in the late '80s. Why I even think about these things, the tube tuner Gods only know. BTW, I did have a brief stin .......

I had the same feelings after the Roger Waters show the last time he was in NoVA, maybe you saw it, the show was one of my all time favorite live performances along with Brian Ferry when he came to DC .......

say what you want about the Sony service center at Laredo TX...but they do a fine job of repairs for an almost silly cheap price, even when parts need to be ordered from Japan at no additional cost to .......

After re-setting my VTA to level(thanks Allen) which gave me a better defined lower register I tried the 47K load but really still didn't like it as much as the 1K setting, on some recordings things t .......
