104ab is a hard-sounding speaker...not very supple and although full-bodied, they are somewhat edgy. aging t27 tweers are a nasty piece of business and tend toward the cold and spitty. of all the bext .......

i see that the quad 34 tape input has a DIN connection that has two pairs of L and R connections. does this mean that i would use a DIN to 4 RCA, two of the RCA are tape play and the other two are .......

out of nowhere, my nakamichi cr-1a cassette deck has started to warble. it sounds like everything has vibrato on it. all functions work fine, just thick and nasty vibrato pitch shift on all cassettes, .......

...these are, indeed, ST-120 mono blocks. i plugged them in again and no hum. ran them for hours. it's possible i had a faulty connection or something back when i tried them originally. they're dead q .......

How could this be? Anti-skate applies force to keep the tonearm/headshell from skating toward the label. Too much anti-skate would result in the cantilever leaning away from the label, not toward it. .......

Very interesting! I see they use the Hiquphon OW1, which is a great tweeter. I'm worried, however, that these may be a little too accurate for my taste. I like a doctored sound, bass hump, rolled off .......

I think so. As I understand it, that little pointed plastic appendage in front of the headshell (that is sometimes a brush, but not on mine) is the guide. You line up the stylus tip exactly with that .......

Yes, it is indeed cracked. We inspected it with a 20x jeweler's loupe as well to see that it was definitely, indeed, a crack and not just grain in the wood. He told the seller this and the seller was .......

I agree with your characterization of the midrange of this cartridge. But the fact remains that it's also exceedingly strident and in-your-face. The upper midrange is unbearable on poorly recorded mat .......

That's a good question. Personally I experience no hesitation whatsoever in dropping an aligned spherical diamond into a groove at 3-4 grams pressure and for some reason it makes me more comfortable t .......

I had a Denon DL-110 and it was screaming bright. The idea of paying for a re-tip doesn't bother me at all. But this DL-110 I had, a used piece, was awful; shrill and harsh. It did track well, though. .......

Completely agree. I would suggest cleaning the hell out of your stylus using a stylus brush and an appropriate fluid, such as Disc Doctor or whatever you prefer, and then throwing the brush away and g .......

I tried the anti-skate test. At 1, the arm moved smoothly across from the inner groove and stopped in it's rest. At 0.5, the arm seemed to want to stop in the same area where most of the skipping occu .......

I just installed an appropriate vintage NOS Pickering elliptical stylus that tracks at 1 to 3 grams and the improvement over the spherical stylus is monumental. Bass may not be as huge or defined, but .......

Exactly. The only way to use the Pioneer headshell with the Baerwald alignment would be to put a riser under the cartridge allowing you to extend the Grado out of the front. I guess the best way to de .......

Switched from ADC headshell to original Pioneer. Used Pioneer overhang gauge and set cartridge roughly in center by eye. Noticed increase in bass response, overall sound filled out a little and became .......
