Perhaps Audio Technica will have a non-magnetic core version of the ART20 with the coil inductance of the ART9XA (or better). The ART7 which I'm currently using has at least 50% life left on its stylu .......

I had miss-cued not using my glasses. It was instantaneous. The cantilever does not ride the groove well at all :) Perhaps it is the gold-plating which is the culprit as AT no longer seems to be using .......

Duct tape was an immediate thought, but I didn't think it provided the flat, stable base for the tonearm lifter; duct tape flexes, and the adhesive isn't very strong. I've been thinking of a metal cyl .......

It is now my favorite cartridge as well. Based on your prior recommendations and experience with the ART7 I purchased one making sure I had the requisite gain beforehand. It's eerily holographic in it .......

I think, if indeed so, then the reference recording was made to showcase the capabilities of digitally recorded music in the CD format. It would be good to have both the CD and record for comparison. .......

It might be interesting to follow up with the buyer. Were there pictures? If the seller stated "as is, no returns," then the buyer must be a risk-taking tinkerer or perhaps needed parts from it, parts .......

I was using the internal phono stage of a Nakamichi CA-5 preamplifier, which loaded the cartridge @50kohms fixed and 300pf of capacitance (100, 200pf settings available as well.) I think the FG-70 sty .......

I had one many years ago, but it had a VDH stylus. I have no idea why I let it go, it was ultimately one of the best MM cartridges I have ever used. .......
