That I know. The question is if the increased weight of the 740 is a positive over the 540 in this case because of the extremely low mass of the Black Widow arm .......

I didn't read the entire article, so I don't know if this test was done at a gig, but IME as a guitar player that has been in gigging bands, some of the differences in instruments are not so apparent .......

Not true at all. For example I used to own a pair of original AR 2. These had heavy duty cabs and were stuffed full of fiberglass. These were from the late '50s IIRC .......

How did you determine which viscosity to use? Improved tracking and less IGD? Sounds like I might have to give this a try. Your music is along similar lines to what I would be spinning. .......

I am a huge Rush fan. The MP Live LP sounded so bad that I thought the record was broken! I returned it. It was so bad I couldn't live with myself if I wasted $20 on it. .......

My Black Widow arm is one of the newer ones with fluid dampening. Right now it doesn't have any fluid in it. From what I have read, the dampening fluid will make the sound flatter in the mid bass. For .......

...the best tracking I have had consistently on the IGs is my Denon DP-47f with a AT120E body and a NOS AT 155LC stylus. The 155 doesn't seem to track as well on the 2550/BW though. .......

...tracking seems good with decent records. I would like it a little better, but with the thrift store records I listen too, that may not be possible, especially the late '70s/early '80s rock I listen .......

I am currently running a Denon DP-2550 with Infinity Black Widow and a Signet TK7. It sounds really good to my ears. I do find it a pain not having a removable head shell though. Would it be a step ba .......

I think you are right, but I think it has more to do with the overly bright speakers and recordings of today, which makes HiFi painful and fatiguing much of the time. IOW, "dumbed-down, overly warm, o .......

As crazy as it sounds, I am currently using an old Yamaha CR-840 receiver. Believe it or not, this sounds much better than the ATI. The preamps I have used with the ATI are... NAD 1020 Yamaha C-60 Aud .......

Actually, out of the shredders of that era, Yngwie is one of the cream of the crop for musicality and emotional playing, as well as tone and intonation. Making a comment like that just shows you reall .......

I think I get some of the negative opinions about this cart, but I don't think it sounds too bad. So far I am liking it because it has the least to no IGD of any cart I have used, IGD REALLY annoys me .......

I relize P mount isn't ideal, but mine is not mounted P mount. Mine has the original clear p mount adapter and is monted (came with) my Denon DP-47f. .......

Unless you have modded your C30, it is not class A. I don't think Fender has made what you are looking for, but Carvin used to make a "Tweed" 4x10, and Peavey used to make a classic series 4x10 and 1x .......

I just cheeked Yamaha's web site they list YST subs, but no SWT subs. Is the SWT a typo in your post or is there another/older series of subs you are speaking of? .......

In house I currently have compared my Sony ns500v to a Meridian 506.18, OLD Denon 820, and an older Sony c85ES changer, and the Sony DVD player is the worst of the bunch IMO. Harsh and peircing highs .......

Acctually the Aleph 3 is 60 watts at 4 ohms. The Aleph 30 is only 45 (IIRC) at 4 ohms. .......

Actually, the big difference between the 3 and the 30 is that the 30 is only 40 wpc @ 4 ohms unlike the 3 which is 60 wpc @ 4 ohms. .......

I have a pair of 1Bs and a pair of B&W Matrix 803sII. The 1Bs are pretty good. I find the trebble to be harsh compaired to the B&W. I also prefer the tone of the B&W as well. The 1B however dissapears .......

I have been putting shrink tubeing on my preamp tubes in my main giging guitar amp for a few years now. On the distortion channel, the shrink wrap tightens up the sound quite nicely. .......

If this helps, I used to own a KAV300i and replaced it with a KST-100. The KST was a much better amp IMO. In fact IIRC the KST was better than all of the original KAV series amps. .......

AC-3 track was modulated (that is why AC-3 Laser Disc need a demodulator before the DD decoder) on one of the analog tracks. I don't remember wheather it was left or right though. .......

XP seems to be quirky on some machines. On machines that it works on it seems just as stable as 2K IMO. On my computer (Duron 1gig) and my old computer (Celeron 766) Xp ran a little bit faster than 2K .......

Try a used Meridian 506. There is a 506.20 on Audiogon for $600 (originally $2195 IIRC). One of my favorite players. If you like the type of sound the Meridian gives, you will be hard pressed to find .......

Yes the 6V6 are for voltage regulation IIRC. I beleive that the sound of a component is based on its over all design and implementation, not neccessarily what tubes or devices it uses. That being said .......

Well I don't need to surpass the Meridian, but to be as good most of the time would be the goal. My phono stage is MM only. There is absolutly no way I would be able to listen to ANY cart that I would .......

You WILL NOT find a better speaker for $700. I prefer the Matrix over the Natilus. I have owned my Matrix 803sII for 4 years now and have never found a speaker I would replace them with. .......

I have no experience with the Rega, but I have owned a 506.18 for a little over 2 years now and LOVE it! It replaced a Krell KAV 300cd in my system. Out of curiosity, how much are you paying for the M .......

I owned a KAV 300cd. This player is probably my bigest audio folly I have made. My cd player before it sounded better to me (Rotel RCD-990) and my cd player after also sounded better (Meridian 506.18) .......

Something I tried on my solid state amps was to place a capacitor in parallel with the fuse. Fuses tend to be non-linear at higher fequencies, and I found that a .1uF/400V cap cleaned up the highs whi .......
