I built my own stands for mg12s and own mye stands for my iiias . Getting the 12 up and vertical made a major difference and the mye stands made a huge difference. I don't think you will hear much imp .......

Andy Here is where I ended up with my xo "points": 5,019hz for ribbon to mid 6db/octave 3, 78hz for the mid same slope 545hz for the mid to bass same slope 243hz for the bass to mid with the 18 db slo .......

If you are able to compare damping factors, you may learn a bit more. Based on watts at 8 and 4 ohms, they seem similar w a slight lead to the plinius. Watts mean less than current. The plinius seems .......

Andy The resistors that I took out were the stock resistors. They were in black plastic cases and about an inch and a half long with gray end caps. The amp I have running the ribbons in an Odyssey St .......

The resistor that I'm talking about (I worded it wrong ealier) is not in the crossover, it is actually at the base of the ribbon in the metal cage that holds the ribbon in place. It looks like a sandc .......

I'm biamping actively with a Driverack 260. It allows me to adjust the crossover slopes from BW6 to LR48 and everything inbetween. I can adjust the phase from 1 to 180 and everywhere inbetween as well .......

You will love the Jolida with the maggies. I have a 302a running mg12s. They get along very well. Your amp will sound much better than mine at lower volumes, and higher volumes, and medium volumes. :- .......

David I use Rogue M-150 monos on top with a solid state Crown K2 on bottom with my IIIAs. I like the combination and do not detect problems timbre between the two amps. The Rogues are faster than most .......

You may have known this all along, but I just learned it from Mark at Rogue. The M150 mono amps can use El-34 tubes just by dropping the bias and reseting it for 40. This means that Maggie/Rogue user .......

I have had both in my MGIIIAs. The Alpha Cores have more surface area so the high frequencies travel easier. This makes them superior in mid and high frequencies, according to the guys at partsexpres .......

FWIW, I own a pair of 1985 IIIAs that I purchased on eBay for $365. Only one of the bass panels and both ribbons worked. I sent both speakers back to Magnepan to be inspected and rebuilt for $600 or $ .......

If the Maggie ribbon tweeter never gets hot, wouldn't its impedance stay the same while the Duelund resistor's impedance lowers? This would potentially draw more from the amplifier as the music got lo .......

I had a Classe CA-300 years ago. For solid state, it really sounded smooth and warm. It would make a good amp for the bass panels. You could keep your RM9 for the mid/treble side. .......

The Sledgehammers have lower DCR resulting in slightly louder bass. However, the good folks at Parts Express suggested only using the SH inductors for bass applications because they do not handle freq .......

Wattage for the Rogues is 150 watts ultralinear per amp at both 4 and 8 ohms. This site doesn't state a change into 4 ohms. Wattage for the Crown K2 is 800 watts into 4 ohms stereo with a damping fact .......

I have had a similar experience with Rogues as Sogood. Before purchasing M120 monos, I had a Classe' CA300 with put out nearly 900 watts (they claimed) at 2.3 ohms with my Hales Revelation Three speak .......

Do any of you know if it is normal for my KT-88s to make a popping noise through the speakers when they are turning on. Also, the tubes that glow blue (a normal color of blue) seem to fluctuate as if .......

Same thing happened to me just last week on my Rogue M-120s. I called the owner of Rogue and he sent me a capacitor to replace the one that blew. One of the tubes had gone bad and the capacitor blew. .......

I am a happy owner of Rogue M-120s and I love to play with my tube(s). This past weekend, I traded my KT-88s for my Yugo KT-90s just for fun. The really weird part was that one of the eight total KT-9 .......

Would the Rogues be too much power? They are 60 triode watts and 120 UL watts. The Bottlehead Straight 8s are 96 db efficient. What do you think? I have never done a project like this, but I figure I .......

the future sound engineer is currently drooling over the DIY amps and preamps from the Bottlehead Corp. He even has mentioned making the Straight Eights! He has been trying to find an integrated tube .......

I use the Caig DeoxIt and Pro Gold but I don't know that I can say I have actually heard an improvement. Granted, my equipment is not more than 5 years old. .......
