Try moving the switch in the back corner and adjust the hum/balance pots. It's a dual sleeve pot.Do it in test position and then move it back to normal. Is the hum in both channels? .......

Plate dissipation is lower on the 6L6gc and the plate impedance is higher than the KT88. If your circuit is optimized for a KT88 and this depends on lots of things such as B+ voltage and output transf .......

My daughter just sold her 2011 Ford Fusion hybrid and it has 93k on it. She literally filled it up once a month and it would still be 1/4 to 1/2 full when she refilled it. She bought a New Mustang .......

Yes it can. My Explorer is actually programmable 4WD called intelligent. I go into My Ford Touch and program it different ways.The Ecoboost engines are incredible but the other nice thing about the Ex .......

Oh yea.I have had kidney stones quite a few times and I was hospitalized twice for them. Two years ago I had lithotripsy and that really helped. I drink tons of water now and I drink freshly squeezed .......

Jim Mcshane has a kit that we use in the Citation 2 and Mac Mc240 for the power-supply and that's what really brings the amp to life. I also add a choke and I think Jom has those too but I use K40y-9 .......

You want the value it calls for.That would 4.7uf and the voltage in the 250v range is more than enough. A speaker doesn't see DC rail voltage unless your output transistors short and someone bypassed .......

He buys these amps and they were in BAD BAD shape.The S-8000 I rebuilt had a worn out tuning capacitor but the amp was great.Then he gets the other s5000 and all the wiring underneath was a dried out .......

Charlie Bob has an excellent amp(s) and very well made and the price is a bargain. Like Jim said, when you run a single GZ34,you are cutting it very close depending on where you bias the output tubes .......

Brigs You are right about the Mc275 producing more power but keep in mind that the Citation 2 runs in class A for good portion of its power rating. Both the Citation 2 and the Mc275 are glorious amps. .......

The SA-1000 is a great amp Bobby.It also has Freed Transformers.The only issue is the 8417s that they no longer make but I've converted them to KT88s. .......

this is provided you do the McShane type mods to the Mc275.Both are wide bandwidth amps that use local nested loop feedback and are very accurate.The Mac has bit more power but they are amazingly simi .......

I ended up getting 48k with CLXs total.I got the CLXs at 20% off so they were a little over 20k and they didn't want old Monoliths or the IMF SACMs so I fixed them as only the midrange cabinet on one .......

It sounds like you may need a good cleaning and demagnetizing.Look at your pinch roller and see if it looks glossy and feels kind of glassy smooth. If it does,you need to revitalize it or replace it. .......

If all the fuses are good,you need to take a voltmeter and check and see if you have the DC rail voltages.You should have a plus 63vdc and a minus 63vdc between the output transistor cases and ground. .......

I'm aware of the 1uf caps and I always use a 1uf Solen film and tin foil there but I would use a 116p if I had some in 1uf.Definitely put some Schottkys in because you can get those for a couple bucks .......

Those are not a paper cap.Not all caps are that hermetically sealed are a paper dielectric. All Sprague caps that have paper in the dielectric,have a letter P in the part number. Vit Q caps are usuall .......

Use the 12AU7 tube test settings on your tester. If the tubes goes all the way up the scale and almost pegs the needle,rest assured it is a 12AX7. If it tests normal,it's a 12AU7. .......

Considering these were run with a 18 to 20wpc tube amp back in the day,an NAD should be able to power them.I would upgrade the caps in speaker networks and that will help a lot.They will sound better .......

Lee Photoflash caps can sound very good but the problem is they have very high leakage.I use to take them out of disposable cameras and wire them in series and they sound very good in an Mk3s and old .......

The Grommes 260a amps use a 12AU7 in the first gain stage.What I did was use a 12AU7 to 6CG7 adapter and install the 6CG7 in place of the 12AU7 and got some nominal improvement. I then stuck a 6DJ8/69 .......

Therm On the 6100 I use the MJ15003 outputs but it is important that you check the 22 ohm resistors on the driver board.That sets your bias but also see if there is any DC offset from the differentia .......
