Hello! In my experience I definately notice a way bigger change in sound when changing out the small tubes (12ax7, au7 etc...) then when I changed out my EL34s for KT88s. Usually they are priced lower .......

The Quicksilver Midmono's are wonderful. I am so very happy with mine. (plus they have an easy biasing knob). After upgrading to the Gold Lions, Mullard 12AX7s and EH 6922, the amps are simply marvelo .......

I emailed Mike at Quicksilver and he seemed to think it could be the preamp picking up the signal from the switch. This weekend I am going to try a few different things with not turning on the preamp .......
