I used the Sonic T with speakers rated 89db and 91db. You won't get alot of volume before clipping occurs. I never ran mine past the 12 O'clock position without it starting to become brittle and har .......

Was in a High End store in Nashville in the late 80's auditioning some Celestion DL8's which I loved and bought. They had some massive speakers with a great finish. Cost was $11,000 a pair. Remember .......

I get the same impression. Silverline SR17's use Dynaudio drivers and I've noticed posts before that indicate Silverline, like Merlin, make better speakers with the drivers then Dynaudio themselves. .......

Should clarify its actually not a two way in the sense of 2 drivers. It has a Vifa ring tweeter and 4 aluminum 5.25" drivers covering mid and bass. Go to Ecoustics.com and you can find quite a few re .......

My amp, speakers and CDP were all demoed or bought thru home based dealers. First time it seemed a little strange but the 3 or 4 times I've been to home based dealers have been no pressure very relax .......

Have to agree. I had the 1701A and the 202A that replaced it was way better IMO. There was a slight softening in the bass and slam but other wise no contest much prefered the the 202A. BW Maxx ::: T .......

Yes, Jungson is known as the "Chinese Krell". Voted #1 manufacturer among Chinese/Hong Kong Audiophiles the last 3 or 4 years in a role. No tube equipment SS only. I run the JA88D with the Eastsound .......

Zetag as you probably already know went belly up about a year or so ago. Never heard them but looked at buying a pair when they were liquidating stock. All I know about Zetag is they are Canadian. .......

I would tend to agree. Pop recordings especially tend to sound fine on the car stereo and less enjoyable on a good home stereo. Generally too hot with over emphasised vocals. BW Maxx .......

I believe the SoundOdyssey stage 2 uses the OPA627. Their stage 3 uses the zap filter. From their website the zap filter bypasses the Opamps altogether and replaces them with a class A analog stage. .......

Did you get to read the Jungson Bound For Sound review? The reviewer used his own stacked Quad 57's which he said are very difficult to drive but was able get high sound pressure levels with the volum .......

CD is right on track. Looking at the Jolida as an example, with the PSB's you are alot more likely to damage your speakers with the 30wpc Jolida then the 50wpc 1701A and even less likely with the 100 .......

I would really consider going to a tube CDP. Remove most of the digital harhness and glare associated with CD and you have a totally different system. For about $500 shipped the Sheng Ya CD10 tube CD .......

I don't know about the Cayin. Some amps have to be biased internally and do require some skill. With the Jolida 202A I owned for about a year there was nothing required beyond the initial biasing. .......

Your probably right about the "hard" sound of early SS. This probably wouldn't have been nearly as much of a problem in the days of Analog. I know last year I bought 2 early SS amps still in the box .......

Yes these are excellent drivers. Tweeters run over $400 a pair. As pointed out by other though, these are not speakers a novice should consider. The 9900 is even problematic for many experienced DI .......

Yes, the Cd player is Circuit City type fare. But the amp and preamp combined cost around $5500. Prices I found on line were $3000 for the preamp/processor and 1850 british lb for the amp. This hardl .......

No input other then to say I don't see how you can go wrong with either speaker. Based only on reviews both seem to provide very good sound in the 5-6k range, provide fatigue free somewhat laid back .......

Your speakers probably arn't the weak link. I've never heard the Ascend Acoustic speakers but from what I have gathered by professional reviews and online feedback they compete quite well with speake .......

Yes the FS688's are exceptional. I think they are very close to the limit of current cone technology, in a small bookshelf, other then incremental improvements. This is where DEQX may come in. Also .......
