If you can stretch your budget to around $700, you may be able to run across a used Sony NS999ES. I was lucky enough to get a brand new one for $750 from a dealer at Audiogon. It doesn't play DVD-A, b .......

I have Von Schweikert VR-1's that are flat to 60hz and are down 3db at 40hz in-room. I bought the matching VRS-1 Sub just for the hell of it and to say the least, it made a huge difference. Bass guita .......

Nice review! I have the VR-1's in Hazelwood too. I just got the VRS-1 sub today and love the added bass. I didn't think the VR-1's were lacking too much in bass response but it definatly helped to add .......

I personally don't care for Adcom. Every setup I've heard them in sounded harsh and edgy. I'd look for something like a used NAD C-370, Creek 4330MKII, Rega Mira, Roksan Kandy KA-1 or even a tube hybr .......

I have a NAD S-300 with the VR-1's and they sound great with everything I've thrown at them. I have a fairly large room 14x24 so the bass is a LITTLE bit lacking compared to my previous Paradigm Studi .......

As I'm sure you know, an integrated amp is an amp and preamp in one box. If the integrated amp has pre-outs there will be a couple of jumpers that you can take off to seperate the amp and preamp secti .......

Your speaker's have a pretty average impedance. A lot of speakers have an 8ohm rating that dips to 4 ohms briefly. The HCA-2 shouldn't have any problems with a speaker like yours.... .......

I'd have to agree with Bruce. Mirage speakers are MUCH better speakers than DT's for music. If you were building a HT system I'd put DT at the top of the list but shy away from them if music is the pr .......

PSB and Paradigm are the two I'd pick for Rock. Paradigm is brighter and more detailed while the PSB is a bit warm and more full bodied(which IMHO is better for Rock albums). Depending on your prefere .......

Take a listen to these if possible. Very neutral and accurate sounding in a small room. For a less expensive and larger monitor look at Revel's M-20. It's the most neutral monitor I've heard under $40 .......

If you like the bipole sound of the DF's then I would also look at bipole/dipole designs like the Vandersteen 3A w/sub, Lotus Esprit w/sub, Von Schweikert 3.5 w/sub etc....They really don't need a sub .......

I tried it and for me there was no difference at all. If you decide to try it, make sure to try it first with cheap wire or if expensive wire, then make sure you can return the wire if there isn't an .......

REL Strata III and ACI Titan II are the two top picks it seems around here. I haven't heard the ACI, but the Strata III is the best sounding sub I've heard under $2000. The only one I liked better was .......

The 100w-300w rating is the manufacturers RECOMMENDED amplifier rating, not the speakers rating and your amp falls in that catagory. You speaker would probably sound great with a 30w class A amp, but .......

I may be wrong, but I think the only way you can do it would be to remove the jumpers between the pre/amp section of your integrated(if it has jumpers) and then buy a switch box to put between the two .......

Sorry I can't answer your question directly, but I've heard the Pass X-350 with a Audio Research LS-25 on the Thiel CS7.2 and it had a warm, open, airy and detailed sound. It was the complete opposite .......

The center and surround power terminals are probably a 8 ohm tap. A lot of 8 ohm speakers dip down to 4 ohm or even 3 ohms(Paradigm Studio 100's for example). I would check with Monitor Audio and see .......

I wouldn't worry about it being 250w because you would be limiting yourself with your budget and all that power really isn't needed. I would instead look at amps in the 100w range(or higher), but ones .......

I also recommend Paradigm. They are great rock speakers that throw a big soundstage and are very reveiling in the midrange. I would also check out speakers from PSB which are a warmer sounding and the .......

If you don't mind buying a dealer demo or used, you can get a pair of Revel Studio's in the 7k-10k range. Sounded great with McIntosh amps and Proceed processor for HT. .......
