I know of none that are simple 2 channel (excluding 24/96 DADs). I play them all in 2 channel mixdown because I don't have surround (and don't want it). The same goes for video DVDs. .......

As I've said elsewhere here, my player allows downmixing of n channels to 2, setting output mode to PCM and downsample to off. In this way, I am sending 24-bit 96kHz two-channel S/PDIF format out to m .......

It depends - my Pioneer DV-939A does output 24/96 on the digital outputs provided the DVD-A allows it. All mine do. .......

Who said anything about "a 24/96 5.1 DVD-Audio bitstream"? Let's start again, because I have a DV-939A and a 24/96 capable DAC running here. I have my 939 set to downmix any number of channels to 2. I .......

Wrong. My Pioneer DV-939A outputs full 24/96 into my DAC when playing DVD-A. This is the reason (together with outstanding picture quality) why I chose another Pioneer. As for 5.1, it is a matter of t .......
