I'm with the tubesguy, the crossover will suck the life right out of the driver. Your tube amp will reject it as well. The pros do not outweigh the cons. Les hudson .......

It is as simple as that. You simply model the box the same as you would a sealed or bass reflex. You double the airspace for two drivers but not include the space needed for the manifold. Les Hudson .......

I do believe the specs, but if you look at the frequency graph you can see that it has 12db more output at 2,500hz than at 50hz. Les Hudson see my projects in the inmate pic gallery. .......

I don't recommend a coaxial. There are much better sounding options in full range drivers. Audio Nirvana , Fostex , ect... Les Hudson see my projects in the inmate pic gallery. .......

If the room is on solid ground / concrete foundation then there is no need for spikes. If the room in on a suspended wood floor then spikes will isolate the speaker from the floor. Les Hudson see my .......

yes , if you are looking for accuracy and detail you can't go wrong with the PPSL but if your looking for sock you in the chest punchy bass go with the Karlson. Les Hudson .......

The PPSL is my favorite design for a subwoofer being used below 50hz. If I wanted to build a bass cabinet for 50hz and up I would consider the Karlson cabinet as a better choice. Les Hudson ::: TOPIC .......

I did the slot ported mod to my Lascalas and they no longer needed a subwoofer. The mod changes the 2.25 cubic ft. sealed enclosure to a 2 cubic ft. vented tuned at 35hz. here is a link to some info .......

The 10" Nirvana has better hi-end extension than the 12" and is one of the best speakers that I've heard in an open baffle.On the left is a 22" wide open baffle on top of a double 12" push-pull ba .......

The 10" Nirvana sounds great in the Bruce ,but 1V1 not 1V2. You will also need a subwoofer as well. It's just not quite enough on it's own. Les Hudson .......

The driver has an fs. of 122hz. The Qt is above .4 which allows it to be tuned lower than fs. I first had the port located at the bottom and it had a steep roll-off at the tuning freq (80 hz). Paul K .......

Cool pic! I had issues in the past mounting or storing large woofers in horizontal position. Gravity has a tendency to make the suspension sag and the coil rest out of the gap so I mounted my plenum .......

The QTS is low if you need the driver to produce bass but your not. The upper mid rise is not an issue when your merging with the proper bass cabinet. .......

The tractrix 180 is the best sound that I have. It's cost is 1/10th as much as my tractrix 150. My 150 has a little too much shout and the highs are not as smooth. My 180 uses a 6.5" but has better b .......

The Karlson is a great percussion speaker , maybe the best. It socks you in the chest. Killer for disco. Works well with SET because of it't great efficiency. It's limitations are that it does not .......

The 10" has better highs than the 8 or the 12 and is overall a better driver for an OB. I have a 10" Nirvana with a bass reflex flushed in the baffle. One of the best! .......

Yes , I built a pair of K12 about a year ago and they ended up sounding best with 8" drivers. They were about 18" tall. This K3.5 is only 8" tall .......

I read 2.7vac filaments on a pair of 45 tubes wired in parallel on a 2.5v 3A transformer. When I series a .1 ohm 10w resistor the voltage drops to 2.5v but it introduces hum. It's dead quiet at 2.7v. .......

The horn is fullrange and the 15" Eminence is powered by a class D plate amp with active xover. The cap between the driver tube and the 45 is now a 2uf poly. I know that I can change that to a small .......

Fine tuning the bass cabinets, I tried tuning at 32hz , 35hz , 38hz , and 40hz. Tuning at 38hz sounded best. I tried venting in the front and venting in the rear. This pic shows exterior rear venting .......

I did the mod with the socket. I would not do the mod unless you plan to use a super tweeter. If you do not have plans for a super tweeter they sound better un-modded. .......

It's been my experience that a choke does just that, it chokes the life out of the driver ,especially if using SET amps. I've had much better luck with active xovers. This also gives you more flexibi .......

I use these. They are easy to apply with no mess. The kit comes with can of spray glue. Cover all interior walls making sure not to block any of the port area. Enjoy! .......

I would have to say no. Crossovers will kill the majic of the 2A3. You can either use a simple cap (@10K) on the tweeter and let the woofer roll off naturally or an active crossover. .......

Sorry I was speaking of the speakers sensitivity at 101db for the woofer and 106 for the horn. I've had bad luck with L-pads and I feel there are dynamics lost with L-Pads. What I meant about padding .......

If you look to the far left in that pic you will see the Fidelio side by side with the Hedlund. Not everyone has done a side by side with these two. Again , the Hedlund sounds better but has no where .......

I never said 1 cross word about the Oris Reference 15. Just the opposite. I said that I prefered it over my Lascala cabinet. It's more linear and has lower extension. It's one of the best bass cabine .......

The Fidelo uses a Bicor which extends the bass down to 35Hz. When loaded with an 8" Lowther DX3 the highs are over powering, so out of proportion with the bass, very non-linear. The bass that it does .......

I've tried every driver that I could get my hands on in the Fidelio and not even one of the 8" drivers (Especially the Lowther DX3) had near the bass of the 6" 166E. The cabinet is too small for 8" d .......

Look into any of the newer Lowther designs that incorporate a "Bicor" . This extends the bass lower than conventional rear horns. I was very impressed with the Fidelio, which works best with a 6" dri .......

What cabinet plans are you using? You can get felt with a peel off sticky back from the craft department at Walmart. It comes in 1' squares and is easy to apply. I used this felt in the Fidelio/166E .......

Isobaric drastically reduces efficiency as you reduce box volume. Parallel voice coils you'll probably be at 4ohm with poor efficiency. .......
