Another way would be to look at the Technics part number on the back side of the mat. Early MK II tables had a #SFTG102MO1 in the outer of the two recessed grooves. You should see a white ink stamped .......

Beware of the Taiwan units. I bought one last spring to try and it was fine. I then ordered two more and the center was drilled off center. They made all kinds of rumble and wow. A friend ordered one .......

Patrick,I have had the same thoughts. Do we really have a 301 anymore? Does it matter? I am most interested in making improvements in sound that justify the cost. I feel this does so. Yes, interesting .......

Hi JD, I share your concern about removing the eddy current brake. I have asked Chris to build one for testing to see how important it really is. It most likely will be attached to the platter as that .......

Abe, the motor is atached to the stock mounting location on the underside of the top plate. I am planning on building a plinth that will have the motor mounted to an isolated area inside the plinth it .......

Picked up the prototype Versus/301 motor from Chris Brady at RMAF last week and installed it in an extra 301. First listen in a simple plinth playing right next to a restored original motor 3 .......

As far as this hot rodder's mentality of "if more is better, then too much must be just right", it just does not apply to plinths, or several other things for that matter. Mass is good to a point but .......

Yes Milan, they are the same head units. The 1015 number refers to the addition of a works plinth to the SP 15. The switching power supply is not a problem, however the neon strobe light is. ::: TOPIC .......

Have used both in my house, they clean LPs about the same but the Matrix makes much less noise, hence makes cleaning less of a chore. .......
