Just stick with the original bearing. This is what I did. I've read somewhere that back then, there was a good reason why SME designers decided to make it plastic. Other bearings will change the sound .......

Van den Hul D - 502 HYBRID's capacitance is 75 pF per 1 meter. Belden 89259 is 57pF (it's funny that the numbers are just swapped). My cable lenght is 1.2m, making it 90pF. 1.2m of Belden would be 68. .......

Well, regarding the wiring, on my Thorens I have a SME 3009 s2. I just rewired it with solid core pure silver Van den Hul wire. I also changed the standard SME interconnects to VDH OFC Silver Hybrid c .......

Thanks Fred, I'm thinking of using low viscosity oil since this is what Thorens originally used (if the informations I acquired during my lenghty web research are correct)... Original Caltex Regal Oil .......

Hi! I've read many posts here regarding oil for Thorens bearings. Majority of posters recommended Mobil 1 car engine oil. After some more searching, I discovered that Thorens recommended Caltex Regal .......

Update. I took out the drivers again and connected them directly to the amplifier (low sound level of course). Stiffer driver now sounds a bit quieter that the "normal" driver. It is also more thin so .......
