The more you treat a room the more you hear the direct sound. In rooms with reflection free zones you hear direct sound only. If you think that on-axis measurements are of no importance, then so be it .......

All of the "problems" you mention can and have been solved. Flat response on-axis isn't really a problem, it can be done 2 dB, when using DSP it is better. Controlled response off-axis isn't a probl .......
