Thanks for the recommendation...I may give Novus a try. Still would kike to know whether I'm dealing with plastic or lacquer on the plinth. My guess is acrylic, but not sure. Google doesn't seem to of .......

What type of finish is on the plinth? Is it lacquer or just high gloss black plastic? Mine has some very, very fine hairline scratches similar to the swirl marks you find in dust covers. I have used P .......

Thanks ironbut--I did check HFE before I posted, but nothing very similar. I guess sales of this unit must have been pretty slim as there's very little online about this model. All is not lost though, .......

My SL-1600MK2 spins very slow at power up. Everything else works exactly as it should except for getting to speed from a dead stop. It's an intermittent problem, about 1-2 out every 10 starts it gets .......

Dave, Sorry for the confusion...it was my bad. What I meant to ask, is "do you have a reasonable estimate as to the mass (gram weight) of the arm minus any head shell, cart and etc."? Hope this makes .......

John, Thanks for your reply. I have several test records, but none mention a resonance frequency test. (1) The primary goal for my OP was to find the correct mass of this arm...nobody seems to know... .......

The Sony cart VC-8E lists a cu of 30 and was advertised as a "very high" compliance cart and yet was designed for the PUA-237 and PUA-286 Sony arms which according to many is a "medium to high mass ar .......

If you mean mA (milliamps), they are under biased if your readings are correct. To put it simply, the bias of a valve amp is set by adjusting the grid voltages to set the idle current of the output tu .......

It is a discoloration from the heat sealing of the tubes...there is no cleaning necessary for this as it is not corrosion/dirt. When in doubt about proper contact, I use new (not attached) sockets and .......

Billy, I found the same situation...started with 1A4005's and when I changed them out to MOT 3A Ultra-Fast diode the whole sonic signature of the preamp changed for the better. BTW, when I rebuilt bot .......

I use a computer fan at 12V...its run off a wallwart plugged into the outlet on the rear of the tuner. It has worked fine for three years now and keeps the FM-3 really cool. Regards, "Kico" ||||||||| .......

Found one at a local moving sale...I must say it sounds remarkable for its age, very, very quiet even with the muting off...thing is built like a tank. Bad multi-path switch and a few other anomalies, .......

Probably, but can't be absolutly sure without a schematic, look for the largest physical size...and yes, those the primary ones you need to be concerned about. Use at least a 2W 100 Ohm resistor or la .......

Do these need to be measured "out of circuit"? There in series with the bias trim pots. After a quick reading on both they measure more like a straight Thermister, with both nearly equal in Ohms and .......

This is the amp board from a Kenwood KA-7002. Parts are labeled on the board as TH1 and TH2; I'm guessing one for each channel. The schematic shows them as THq15T-3iL and THq25T-3iL, but with no value .......

you need a VTVM. It makes a difference in the quality of the end product. Having aligned my mine both ways, I can without doubt tell you it makes a big difference with the FM3. Also consider replacing .......

Russ, I finally got it correct...found that you don't use the the top lugs on the ALPS pot...just the middle ones for R/L signal and the bottom ones for ground. Pot tracks much better than orginal and .......

I'm redoing (keeping the original tweet/woofers) my Dynaco A-25's and wondering if I should replace the 4.7uf/25V cap on the crossover. It's an old yellow box cap which looks similar the WIMA caps of .......

The amp is a Citation II and the factory specs call for 100ma per 6055 (4) at idle. At this level it must think those Tung-Sols are free! I currently have it in the triode mode which reduces the power .......

Same thing happened to me several months ago---it was a bad rectifier tube. Confirmed it by switching to another rectifier tube. Retested the old tube in the amp several months later and the same thin .......

Pat- All PAS3's and 3x's have the green caps, so this is not how you can tell the difference. The PAS3x's had special tone controls that were marked on the rear with Dynaco's part # with "x" after it. .......

the Svetlana is a sturdy tube and should last 2000hrs or more at that bias---providing all else in your amp is as it should be. My ST70 is used every day and I'm on my second set in three years, biase .......

You can use a larger UF and larger voltage, just not less voltage! I replaced mine with (2) 4700 UF/35V Nichicons from my local Radio Shack. They have worked fine for over two years. Regards, "Kico" | .......

Sounds like it might be loose transformer mounts. Check the four bolts that hold them to the chassis. Check all three transformers...you can use your hand to gently press on the tops to see if you can .......

Hey Charles- Tuning eye separates as in "no station". If tuner "snaps" back in tune by itself, tuning eye closes to perfectly tuned. .......

I love my Dynaco FM3 and find myself using it over several other tuners I own, but lately it has developed a problem. After playing about 10 minutes or so it "snaps" off station. This is not a gradual .......

Three come to mind, Svetlana, Electro-Harmonix and JJ Electronics. Search the AA archives and you'll find the members opinions run the gambit. Personally, I like the JJ and Svetlana the best. ::: TOPI .......

Can't help with the first two items, but the Dynaco SCA-35 is an intregrated amp with 17 watts per channel. Check ebay, you should find one there for $125-175. When brought up to specs, these are a sl .......

I don't think Dynaco ever published Volt/Amp specifications for the SR in your ST-70, but the consensus around here is from 400-600V and 1A. I replaced mine with an RS 1N4005 (600V-1A) several years a .......

Try cleaning your tube sockets/pins with the De-Oxit, if the noise continues the most likely culprit is a bad resistor, capacitor or solder connection in that channel. It is also possible you have a b .......
