I think Benji must refer to Brittan. As much as I love Ives, Stravinsky, Bartok, and Shostakovich, among other 20th Century composers, my two favorites are probably Janacek and Sibelius. .......

Don't know for sure, but Gielen is supposed to have done a very good job with Mahler's No. 7 and I love his No. 6. A good possibility is that I didn't give it enough of a listen. I probably listened .......

Of all his symphonies, I enjoy No 6 the best (either the Barbirolli or Gielen), but it's all whatever mood I'm in and whichever symphony of his I'm playing at the time. The only Mahler symphony I'm n .......

Probably because, as already mentioned, they're usually an afterthought. Most will not be capable of driving a 300 ohm pair of headphones like the 600's or 650's to anything near what they're capable .......
