You didn't say who modified your Philips player, so I can't give you a comparison, but I am extremely happy with my DV-50. I have not heard a better universal player at any price. I does all formats v .......

the gain of a 12AX7, but that's open loop gain. Like I said in my previous post, most amplifiers have local or global NFB. Changing a tube will not effect the overall preamp gain unless the open loop .......
