Hmm. Checked that all USB auto-off settings were disabled for both on AC power and battery, and still getting frequent cut-outs when warmed up. I'm having a feeling it's something internal :( ::: TOPI .......

That's something I hadn't thought about. My NAS is a Synology BTRFS box, not a ton of random activity unless a torrent gets snatched, but I've always thought I was safe enough with it plugged into a S .......

3-2-1 backup with HDDs. SSDs are great for speed, but the cost/TB just isn't there yet for NAS use; if you really need speed in the array, you could run them in some form of RAID that prioritizes spee .......

I recently bought a used DAC2D, seemingly fairly lightly-used. Got it running with Win7, Foobar w/ ASIO drivers, it's recognizing all my hi-res material and the proper lights are lighting up where the .......

7DJ8s should rock in that. I swapped a few in to a Decware CSP2, and they just sing. Fairly good price compared to "boutique" 6DJ8s, too. .......

As someone who started on another degree last year, I've noticed a pretty large change. When I was a freshman in 2004, Youtube didn't exist - now, I can look up lectures on pretty much anything I want .......

I dumped CDs ten years ago, save the few artists where I can't buy their music in any other form (and those get promptly ripped to FLAC). Vinyl and lossless digital complement each other perfectly. :: .......

I wonder if streaming vs. downloading makes any difference. I don't think Radiohead had the same kind of result with their pay-what-you-want album model - but that was the whole album, in full quality .......

I used Svetlana SV811-based monoblocks for years - sort of plate cap-less 811s. Other than being ridiculously ungainly for 8 WPC (somewhere on the order of 40lbs per amp), they were lovely. Used them .......
